So every morning I have started reading an online devotional from the
Passion Network. It is part of the Thirsty stuff. The current selections are from a book called "
A Godward Life, Book One and A Godward Life, Book Two" by John Piper. And today the topic is right on for some stuff that has been going on. It never ceases to amaze me when God brings something forward that is currently going on.
The topic of today's reading is about "Where Does Christian Living Come From?
Reflections on the Power of Right Knowing". And one point really stood out to me here's the part...
"It is remarkable that again and again the apostle Paul confronts failure to do what's right with failure to know what's right. For example:
Right knowing prevents the prostituting of grace.
Shall we sin because we are not under Law but under grace? May it never be! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?" (Romans 6:15-16, emphasis added)"
Prostituting grace is the part that really hit me. It made me think of a line in one of my all-time favorite songs '
Forgive Me' by Seven Day Jesus. "Still I sell you for much less, than 30 pieces." Both things make me think of the things I sell Jesus and His grace for. And yet time after time I find that it's not worth it.
It's not worth the hassle, it's not worth the trouble, it's not worth slipping out of God's hands. It has never been worth it.
