History is what we make of it.
The events themselves don't matter because they are gone, except for the meaning and effect they have had on us.
The fact that 1 million people were killed in a country can have no effect on us, because we don't care, didn't connect or don't even know it happened. I find it amazing that in the congo, they say 5 million people have died in a conflict, and yet, when heath ledger dies, there is this outpouring of sadness and love,
most of us never met either of this group of people, yet the visible stranger we pour our emotions into....

I really like your showcases about population density.
People do so many things because they are able to.
San Francisco is so overdeveloped because they don't have lots of cheap space available. Subdivisions meanwhile are as a result to this idea that one's home is one's palace and people like having lots of grass. I think its silly that everyone has to have their very own plot, it would make more sense if a neighboorhood was able to pool its resources and have a extra large pool for 20 houses than 1 pool each. But then people have such a hard time coordinating their efforts and desires...
