big livingroom
on 125st the harlem motercycle club was showing off their steel horses.
This weekend I spent a lot of time in Bryant Park. I went there on Saturday and Sunday to work on the necklaces and bracelets I like to make. It was very peaceful, Time Square flashed and glittered just around the corner, but in the park two kids in ragged play-torn clothes knelt to feed a little sparrow in the dust by one of the walkways.
I met a man who lives in midtown and plays the saxophone. He told me all about what it was like before Disney and before the decay that hit the city in the 1970s. I asked him if he was in the park often and he said “it’s my living room.”
I could dig a living room like Bryant Park.
Someday, maybe.
Let me dream.
