What is civil disobedience?

Sometimes I wonder if anyone even know what "civil disobedience is" After hearing about the 900 arrested for protesting the other day I’m just shaking my head-of course they were arrested they didn’t have a city permit-is it "unfair" that the city didn’t give them permits? … perhaps. i think you are being unfair.
200 people were arrested on fulton street tuesday for trying to make their way to the free speech zone. the police arrested them before they could commit any act of civil disobedience: even tho they were not planning to commit acts of civil disobedience.

the line has been crossed, and people are being arrested for "civic action", or in some cases, for shopping in the wrong area.

I want to know where they are holding all these people...I mean that is ALOT of arrests.
