So, we went to the mall today. Which was like a huge zoo to be honest. It took
Yajirobe like forever to find a place to park his car. I'm glad me,
Trunks, and
Piper could fly over, cause it was impossible to park. But we waited for Yajirobe.
Then, when we get inside the mall, he sees there's some huge sale on fudge at the candy shack and goes tearing off. I hollered at him that we were going to meet at the food court about 1:00 and figured he was gone.
So, me, Piper and Trunks started braving the crowds. Which was no easy mission, because the place was packed. But I think we did pretty good at getting stuff. And at one point though, I asked if they'd mind if I left them for a bit. Piper actually seemed kinda glad I was doing it. I hope I wasn't boring her. It was about 12:15 then, so we agreed, we'd all meet at the food court at 1:00.
My errand took me out of the mall, but I can't say where it was, cause it's a surprise.
I came back at 1:00. I met up with Piper and Trunks heading to the food court. When we got there, Yajirobe was already there, with about three trays of food in front of him, munching out. So, we left the stuff we'd bough with him and we got food. Which wasn't easy either, cause it was like everyone was eating. But we managed to get something to eat.
While we were eating, we talked about what we got for everyone. Yajirobe got a whole bunch of fudge, but I think it was all for him. When I asked him if he'd gotten any gifts for anyone else, like Karin, he gave me a look like he couldn't believe I was asking. So, I let it drop.
After lunch, Yajirobe took off for the Hickory Farms stand, so the three of us bought some other stuff. We went into EB, where Trunks was like in heaven, looking at all the video games. While he's got a bunch at home he hasn't played, as far as he knows, we have eight years of new games, all out at once. I thought he was going to end up spending the rest of his money on himself, but he was good. He bought one used game and then a few other things that weren't for him, but I won't say another word. *wink*
After EB, we went to the arcade and played for awhile. Trunks had never seen DDR before, but we showed him. I don't know if he liked it or not. He seemed more interested in playing some of the fighting games.
Piper was kinda quiet most of the day. I was almost suprised she wanted to come along, considering all that's happened, but I'm glad she did. I think she needed to get out, even if it was to fight the crowds.
Speaking of crowds, when we got home and after we ate, I studied for a bit, then we agreed I needed a break. So, I decided to surprise her and told her to dress warm. We went outside, where I powered up to SSJ4 and grabbed her.
I can fly really fast in SSJ4. No, I can't do instant transmission, but I can fly at speeds that are pretty amazing. That's why I wanted her to dress warm, cause it can get cold at those speeds. Fortunately, when I'm powered up, the energy goes a ways to keep you warm, but still, I didn't want her eyeballs to freeze or something.
So, I took off. She really had no clue where we were going and I was flying so fast, I think she was keeping her eyes shut. When we got close to where we were going, I stopped, way up in the sky, so she couldn't see, and handed her a blindfold. "Put this on."
"BJ!"
"Trust me, put this on."
She kinda shook her head, but she did it. So, I flew down and found this tree, settled down on a branch, made sure she was secure and removed the blindfold.
We were on the Boston Common where they've got this fantastic Christmas tree, all lit up. And where we were sitting, we could see the tree dead on, without the surrounding crowds blocking our way. And besides just the tree, they have the whole common lit up with millions of tiny lights. I know I'm a guy and I'm not supposed to be heavily affected by this kind of stuff, but there really is something magical about it. And there were folks on the ground singing Christmas carols. Even some people ice scating on the lake where they normally have the swan boats. And it had snowed yesterday, so it was like this scene out of an old Norman Rockwell Christmas card.
She gasped and for a few minutes said nothing, just took it all in, then after a few minutes, she looked over at me and said, 'WHere are we?"
"The other side of the world, Boston Massachusetts, United States of America."
"It's so pretty!"
"Yeah, I saw pictures of it on the net the other day, and I thought you might like it."
We got quiet for awhile, just so we could watch and listen. I thought she was just watching, taking it all in, but she was really listening carefully, because she suddenly looked at me, grinned, and grabbed her flute out of her bag and flew down. With the chorus they had at the park, there were two guitar players, and she went right over to them, pulled out her flute and started playing.
I know people can be a little uptight in the USA, so I got closer, a little worried, they might not take kindly to someone joining in, but they just smiled and beckoned for her to come closer.
We stayed there for a couple hours, while she played and the chorus sang Christmas carols. Then, when the show was over, we walked around a bit. We found this little coffee shop that's open all night and went inside and had hot chocolate and talked.
And talked.
And talked.
About everything. What happened to her on the mission, what happend to me when I freaked. How sad I was about my father being gone, how happy I was that I heard from my timeline dad. About anything and everything. The place was quiet, we weren't talking loud, and no one bothered us.
Many cups of hot chocolate gave their lives for us tonight. And a few of these huge brownies with M&M's in them. I salute them bravely for the sacrifice.
After that, we flew back home. Mom and Dad were already asleep, but Mom had left (you guessed it) hot chocolate on the stove, which we heated up and drank, cause we were cold from the trip home. We talked a little more, but by this time, we mostly talked about casual stuff.
All in all, I'd say this was a damned good day. We seem to have a Christmas tree now in the living room, so the house is starting to smell like pine. They've got the lights and the garland on it, I guess the decorations go up tomorrow. That should be fun. I wonder what BB and Daikon will think?
Well, I know what I think and that is that I need to get some sleep.
