Is this Haruki Murakami the Earth equivalent of a Jedi?

Well, he's wrong.

I can't accept that. That's not how it is. Sometimes we do get to keep what's ours. Forever. If it really matters to us, there's no reason we should let it go. And if anything should come along to threaten that, we must find a way to defeat it. Why should we simply accept that we don't get to keep what's precious to us? It's ours, and no one has the right to take it away! I can't condone such a passive, weak-minded attitude. At least not for myself, and people like myself who have powers that others do not.

I understand how this sentiment can apply to possessions. It's true that people shouldn't set such store by them. They're not what truly matters. It's relationships that matter. Those are worth fighting for. Love is worth fighting for.

Come to think of it, I can imagine Obi-Wan saying those words... though I wonder if he truly believes them.
