He's a geisha? Does this mean he will bring us tea, play music and tell us stories for money?
(diligently searching for spare change...;-)

did you know that when the geishas got really drunk they would be spirited away and new geishas would take their place-the patrons, also drunk, and thus unaware would just think geishas have magically high alchohol tolerance;-)

lmao that is quite interesting! I should read up on such things, as much as i like Eastern culture and philosophy.
I'm starting to show more interest in Kabuki lately...

I dont know too much about kabuki other than women werent allowed in it historically(not sure if they are now). /i found out the geisha stuff in a book written by an anthropologist who lived as a geisha in the 1980's or late 70's. It was really interesting seeing the differences of culture in daily life. It was a unique book as most anthropologist situations are such that a woman is not allowed in many places, whereas with geisha, it was the men who were banned;-)

i love cultures and how they differ. I've heard about that anthropologist before...need to look into that again.
Interesting also that women were banned from many things as well. There's possibly so many factors that could have lead to those conditions, but easily summarized as "stubbornedness". Or maybe, "Fear of losing one's place in the ranks".

*thoughts abound tonight lol...*

Anthropology-the science that allowed a young college student to experience gales of laughter upon hearing that April Glaspie was the appointed ambassador to the arab nation of Iraq;-) I find it somewhat humorous how societies segregate people based on sex or age, with no real basis or logic but its taken as "nature";-)
A really wonderful book about this sort of thing is Prometheus Rising by Robert Anton Wilson. Its more philosophy than anthropology but its very amusing and easy to read.

lmao =)

when u have you have people up in the ranks who only know how use politics, instead of understanding, that's the power of the sexes fighting each other, just so one may enter higher ranks.

logic? If it is, it isn't; if it isn't, it ain't. lmao...

Wilhelm Reich writes about using sex to control society in Function of the Orgasm, and Mass Psychology of Fascism. Its been pretty ubiquitous for an insanely long time. Its like cooperation is a dirty word in our culture;-) But then what can you expect from a society that thinks sex is evil and shouldnt be seen, and violence is keen?

keinxmitleid May 31 2004, 07:55:40 UTC
ah, isn't it that evil thrives under the cloak of ignorance? Keep it under wraps, and wrong things are more accessible to do. Thus, sex is a sin. Sex and violence are kinda backwards....seeing too much sex will dull the desire after a certain point, or make u look deeper into the emotional, relationship-wise benefits and faults. Violence however, dulls the our minds to where it's like it's nothing. Death used to have great significance, but the more exposure to it, apathy sets in.

Seeing too much in some ways, but tribal societies where its normal(to see since people live 10 to a room) dont seem to lack interest;-)
You are right about both strictures being used for control. Not that our society lacks visuals of sex(rofl) just the idea that we are doing wrong to see it gives a greater measure of control to those who promote the guilt. (Thats one of Reich's central premises about the immense control the Church had for so long and now seems to have lost). Ignorance appears to be our new national virtue, with some slight signs of changing, I hope;-)
