Capsule 081

[It's been a slow day in terms of maintenance work, so Trunks is doing something else on the grounds while the weather is still nice enough to spend time outside. At the moment, he's off from the front door to the apartments by about 20 yards, working on the time machine he received from the ball. This is the one that brought Cell back in time, so ( Read more... )

. . . And what, good sir, might that awe-inspiring piece of equipment be?

*looks up from his scrubbing work*

Hm? Oh! Well, it's actually a time machine.

. . .

What.

...Yeah. I know it sounds far-fetched, but my mother and I managed to build a time machine.

I'm afraid this version doesn't work, though. It's out of power, and the level of technology here is too low for me to restore it.

. . .

What.

Uh. I mean. Ah-hem!

I assume it runs on that electricity stuff? You don't suppose magic would make an appropriate substitute.

Unfortunately, this requires a fuel with far more punch.

I'm of the mind that magic is a great deal stronger than any power source you could imagine. Being the source of all life and all.

Well, you'll have to forgive my skepticism, then. Where I come from, there no longer is any such thing as magic.

. . . By no longer, you mean there formerly was? And what happened to it?

Well...I'm not honestly sure what to call it. I'm only using the term "magic" because, frankly, I don't know what to consider their power.

Anyway, you see...in my world, there used to be seven orbs known as Dragon Balls. When all seven were gathered, they would call forth a being known as the Eternal Dragon. When the Eternal Dragon was summoned, it would grant a single wish to whomever gathered the Dragon Balls. Once the wish was granted, the Eternal Dragon would disappear, and the Dragon Balls would scatter across the Earth.

But, the thing is, the Dragon Balls had a creator. That creator was a being named Kami, the Guardian of Earth. But...over fifteen years before my time, Kami was killed. When that happened, the Dragon Balls lost their powers and turned to stone.

At the risk of sounding repetitive. What.

Uh. Anyway. That doesn't sound exactly like what I'm familiar with, but it might be a form of magic nonetheless. Regardless, I speak of mana, the source of life, and a presumably feasible energy source. Unfortunately, the only thing I possess that can produce any mana is this ring . . . And it tends to set things on fire.

Oh. Well, I know that nothing of that sort exists in my world. Nothing that can be used to power anything but an organism, at least. Every living thing has life energy, or ki, but ki manipulation only goes so far.

Ki . . . That sounds vaguely familiar as well. Well, regardless, if there's no way to make it work, why are you working on it?

You can't really expect me to leave it in this state, can you?

To be honest, it does seem a bit like a waste of effort . . . Oh! How would you feel about recycling it for parts?
