Every time I go to update, I tell myself the following:
"Do you really have something noteworthy to say right now? No? I didn't think so."
Thus updating is postponed with the thought that the longer I go, possibly something interesting will happen. But shortly following that decision, I realize that I could possibly go years without updating if I utilized that policy. And you wouldn't want that, would you?
I feel like there is alot to say about the past couple weeks, actually, but I can't muster the energy to do so. I will give you a brief rundown of the highlights and lowlights.
Highlights
-The trip to Iowa City for the Dave Attell/Pauly Shore show
-Two more friends are engaged
-Making a dent in the holiday gift list
-Catching
Jesus is Magic with
edsmells and Co.
Lowlights
-Driving home from the Iowa City trip in horrible weather
-Two more friends engaged
-Still more gift-buying to be done
-TWO trips to the Emergency Room
-Feeling somewhat ill the past few days (a cold, I think)
So there you have it - a brief but prefunctory review. As for this past weekend? My plan was to stay in (see the "Feeling somewhat ill the past few days" comment) but Craig called Friday afternoon and invited me to see his band play at a bar on the east side of town. I went, against my better judgement, but it didn't turn out badly at all. Craig's new girlfriend was there - the one I met at his Thanksgiving gathering - so we chatted for a bit. Kayla, Ben, and Chris also came out for awhile to celebrate being done with finals and it was nice to talk and catch up since I hadn't seen them in awhile. The band wrapped up just before 2, making it somewhat of a long night but enjoyable all the same.
I didn't do much yesterday or last night. I got a few errands accomplished (as many as I could tackle for a Saturday anyways) and then went in to slacker mode. The upside of this was being able to watch Saturday Night Live, which was exciting since Jack Black was hosting with Neil Young as the musical guest. If you missed last night's Saturday Night Live, you missed what was probably one of the best shows in recent history. For you viewing pleasure,
here is a link to the "Lazy Sunday" video. If you saw it, you know how hilarious it was. If you didn't, here's your chance. It is a zip file and took me all of 30 seconds to download. You'll thank me later.
As mentioned, I still have some gifts to buy this week. I'm not terribly stressed as I already know what it is I am going to get the people in question - it is just the act of going out and purchasing the said items. Bill mentioned coming up for a night so that he could finish his shopping so I'm waiting to hear what his plans are. On top of that, there has been some discussion on having a get-together with some friends from home who will be back in the area for the holidays. Nothing has planned yet, but if something IS planned, I hope it is soon because it will impact when I make the journey home (Friday night or early Saturday).
I've been thinking about getting back in to radio. I really enjoyed it, but the stress of working two jobs took a toll on me. I've certainly missed it, but I've found myself missing it even more as we have been working on marketing/radio spots at work. The only thing is that I lack all skills and talent for the field. I was a hack the first time around and can't imagine the situation being any differenta second time around. It is kind of a nice thought, though.
