The Truest of Tales

Lava Stamp

My skin was afire tentative meltdown and itched of madness.  Molecular ants were rending mounds of basalt and silver spun from body once.  I scratched wildly to suppress the horde but all I realized was the bondage of blood weakening down my back as molten debris.  Something in the room was growing, engulfing me.  Silence like a sheer wall wrapped round and swallowed whole.  In the void I heard a distant crash.  Closer and closer it pealed as alive and aware as I.  Steady.  Beating.  The furies danced and played and struck home against my heart.  "Oh Erinyes, unleash me from thy wrath!" I moaned through crackling lungs.  Louder and louder it was struck by their invisible hands.  Marching triumphantly up my throat I could feel it squeezing past my tongue and into my skull.  Thud thud thud each tone rippled through my body searing.  Gripped in this agony I clenched my eyes closed to block it all out.  That's when I felt the grass beneath my folded legs.  That's when I smelled the smoke wafting through the serene air.  That's when I opened my inner eyes and saw a whole new world for the very first time.  In this place I left a part of myself that night.  A seed maybe.  A time capsule perhaps.  A lost colony of hope and dreams cursed to wander the limitless while the concrete stood barred to the hell of earth.
