[ Hey, check this out. It's the inside of Goldenrod Gym! Bet you haven't seen that a thousand times, huh?
A line of text overlays the scene. ]
THIS SHOULD BE GOOD.
[ People familiar with Niou might recognize his Porygon's text, and should definitely recognize the boy himself ambling onto the gym floor. Whitney certainly does. ]
Hey, it's you again! ... You've got some seriously mean friends, y'know.
[ For once, Niou doesn't have anything to say. He stops, raising a Pokéball on one finger and spinning it. Whitney seems off-put by his silence. ]
Jeez, okay... I guess I'll beat you again!
[ Niou smiles, the smug sort of expression that suggests he's got something up his sleeve (and when doesn't he?), and lets the ball fall. A Ditto emerges, looking just as smug as its trainer. ]
All right, Girafarig!
[ The instant her Girafarig is fully formed, the Ditto mimics it: a fully purple Girafarig stands across from the girl and her Pokémon. The battle that follows is dismally short: by simply repeating every attack the Girafarig makes, the Ditto successfully knocks it out. ]
Ugh. No fair! C'mon, Clefable!
[ Niou stands with his hands in his pockets as his Ditto cheerfully mirrors every one of Clefable's moves. This round is quick, too. It's becoming clear that Whitney is simply outleveled.
Whitney recalls Clefable with a pout. ] Let's finish this battle, Miltank!
[ If you were expecting Miltank to turn the tables, you'll be sorely disappointed. Ditto copies Miltank's devastating Rollout, and this round is over in just a few moves, as well. Niou doesn't return his Pokémon, but the evidently-pleased Ditto works its way up its trainer's leg before morphing into a purple watch and latching onto his wrist.
As expected, Whitney starts to cry. ]
That wasn't even a good battle! You weren't this mean last time!
[ Last time, some of you might recall, Niou lost against her Miltank and stormed out. This time, he strolls casually across the gym to her and holds out his hand, palm-up, expectant. ]
My badge, lady.
[ And he stands there, still smug, unmoving, until she reins in her tears and slaps the badge into his hand, along with the TM disc. ]
There! Happy?
Not really. [ He pockets the prizes and turns to walk away, with Whitney's indignant look aimed at his back. ] You're right; it wasn't a good battle. I've never won a match that easy in my life.
[ That text reappears again, overlaying Whitney's protests and Niou's deliberately casual exit. ]
HE THINKS HE'S COOL. REALITY CHECK, PLEASE.
[ ooc; Badge is mod-approved! ]
