The President signed the Matthew Sheppard hate crimes bill today. It's been years since I've been an activist, but a trans-inclusive hate crimes bill was one of the two major goals we were working toward when I was. ENDA is still out there, and there are plenty of other things wrong, but this at least is a step forward.

FWIW, I'm bi, poly, pagan, trans, geeky, fannish... and very lucky to have the people in my life that I do.

Perhaps we'll have to add Chautauqua, Letchworth, and Palenville to the list of possible sites for the wedding, after all....

WXXI just played a sound bite from the Rochester city clerk, in which she states that if it were up to her, she'd issue same-sex marriage licenses, and that she would have started doing so by now if the city's corporation counsel hadn't advised against it.

We do have an ace in the hole in that I intentionally haven't updated my documentation yet, for precisely that reason. I wonder if we should talk to Tim Mains when ayilmaz gets back from her trip....
