Two days ago we had a staff meeting...and lemme say...I came out of the meeting with my nerves shot and not feeling I had any job security. Basically, they said they're going to do everything they can to keep everyone. We've had alot less clients than in previous years. Some of biggest companies have closed. We may not get bonus' this year...but really... who cares. A bonus is a bonus. I never count on them.
Anyways, yesterday I went to talk to my boss about my work load. I haven't had a full one lately so I've been helping others in other departments around the office like scanning files and stuff. Basically she said I was too valueable and too smart to be doing scanning. So, I'm going to take on alot more legal assitant work.I can honestly say, I'm nervous. But i've been nervous before....and it always feels good once that settles and you've got it down and your busy kicking ass. It feels nice to know my current boss and my previous boss whose now retired have had nothing but total faith in myself and in my capabilities. Last week I had a slight melt down....being down on myself on how I wish I had gone to college and doing more. Luckily, my friend Isabel (whom I've known 19/23 years of life.) called admist the thought and told me I was doing alot better than some friends, who've graduated with english degrees and are currently working as beer company drivers.
The US is in a state of financial chaos and plunder. We'll see how bad it gets...I already know a handful of people who've lost their jobs. It's scary. I'm gonna continue to keep on doing what I'm doing. While this job isn't ideal, it is do-able...and not a bad place to be stuck at. I think having 5 years at S&U will look good on a resume.
I couldn't go up to Portland this weekend...so I'm fleeing to Rohnert Park/Sonoma County. I deserve to party after this week of work.
Side Rant. I HATE punks who act stupid because they're punks and theyre supposed to act reckless and stupid. You have a fucking brain. Use it. Those who are destructive for the sake of being destructive.Assholes. (Example: Smashing bottles.) They're as much the problem as every other idiot on this earth.
