"THIS WAS A SUCCESSFUL UNVEILING!" (6x13, Secret Santa)

Dec 10, 2009 21:45

Aaaaand The Office just made my heart grow three sizes. I'm pretty sure that 21 minutes just restored my Christmas spirit completely.

*snifflesob*

* So much to love. So SO much to love. I have no idea where they came from, but by the end of the episode, I was in tears.

* Nice to see the return of the Secret Santa tradition that was established back in season 2 during Christmas Party.

* Dwight and Jim are the worst Party Planning Committee ever. And I love every minute of it.

* Poor Andy. He just wanted to give Erin a super-unique, and (imo) AWESOME gift (if, you know, done on a smaller scale perhaps), and she ends up being completely mauled and attacked and resentful of the gift. But hot damn if he didn't make up for it with that marching band at the end. Four for you, Andy Bernard!

* The return of Dwight's elf ears and hat! *icon love*

* I kindof hate Phyllis sometimes, but I'd be lying if I said that her tearful "It's been a long journey but... I'm Santa Claus" didn't punch me in the gut in a way I really wasn't expecting.

* "What if you've been really, really bad? More evil than strictly wrong?"

* "I had the exact same idea for catching Osama Bin Laden. I would simply send him a different piece each day. He would assemble it to find himself... IN JAIL."

* Matchmaker!Pam is unbelievably adorable. I want to squish her.

* Michael. Oh, Michael. I almost feel like we go through this every time with him. Such a child sometimes, and does he ever learn? He seems to, and that's why I usually get teary-eyed, but then he's back to his nonsense all over again. But I will give him props for 1) apologizing to Phyllis and 2) rockin' the perfect gift for Dwight.

* Watch the scene as Kevin sits on Michael's lap. The cameraman has to keep shooting around Mindy Kaling behind them because she can't stop laughing. <3

* Please note the subtitle of the Merry Christmas banner hanging in the office. "Santa Hates Tears!"

* Also note the items Dwight has already crossed off his list as possible gifts: Aardvark Trap, Possum Trap, Lobster Trap, Man Trap, and Lathe. However, items that his present still could be: Beaver Trap, Chipmunk Trap, Skunk Trap, Abdominizer, and a Spiculum. *golf clap* Office prop masters, never change.

* "All I want to be is Santa. You want to take that away from me, fine, go ahead. But when you need my help because I am ruining everything, don't look at me."

* "Oh yes, it's space garbage. Dwight's gonna be able to build himself a friend."

* "It's fabric. I really wanted this." "That's fantastic. You can make another dress that goes past your feet."

* On one hand, I've been wondering how they're going to survive this economic crisis, and having them become pure distribution makes sense. As it does that Scranton would remain open, because they've always established - for whatever reason - that this branch is the most successful. On the other hand? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I will not stand for David Wallace getting fired! NOOOOO!!!

* "He has the power of flight. He can heal leopards."

* Kelly's "Jim. Jim. Jim." reaction to his gift of an Edward poster was a thing of beauty.

* Toby and Ryan's hug was the most awesome hug of all the hugs.

* ICU, Angela and Darryl. ICU.

This one is right up there with Christmas Party as my favorite holiday Office ep. Well done, Mindy Kaling!!

Thursday night comedies may be the only thing NBC is doing right, but I'll take it. :)
