Not having to buy Christmas presents for anybody + Payday = buying myself presents.
I couldn't resist buying the entire
Friends DVD Box Set for $99.99 at Amazon. That box set has cost over 200 bucks for the last five years so I couldn't let it slip through my hands. Especially since earlier this year, I re-watched the entire series beginning to end and it reminded me how much I loved it and how utterly re-watchable the show is even all these years later.
I also couldn't pass up buying the
Doctor Who series 1 (with Christopher Eccleston as my beloved NINE) when the price finally dipped below $40. The last few years, it was steadily costing anywhere from $60-70, which I could never ever justify spending for 13 episodes, no matter how much love I had for it. But today it fell to $37.99 and I pulled the trigger.
Also, last week, Amazon had great Black Friday deals on Psych seasons 2&3 ($12.99 each), and Big Bang Theory season 1 ($14.99). And now I'm just hoping that the
SG-1 series box set deal lasts a couple more weeks so I can grab that and get rid of my first 8 seasons that are housed in ridiculously large packaging.
So, I'm not really celebrating Christmas this year (long, self-pitying story about my family, blech) so I'm going to enjoy some great DVD viewing instead. Now if I could finally get the color fixed on my HDTV so everyone isn't green, I'd be thrilled!
Other TV musings:
- No spoilers here, but this week's Friday Night Lights was amazing. I need everyone who can possibly do so, to give Zach Gilford every award possible. Gah. I can't wait for it to air on NBC so everyone can be properly floored.
- I'm completely torn about The Office last night. There's one aspect that I wasn't happy about, but I'm pretty sure I loved the parts that a lot of people seemed to have hated. I don't think pre-management Jim would've fallen for Dwight's obvious sabotage, so I think that needs to be fixed. But as much as the Michael stuff made me cringe, it's exactly the type of cringey humor that I love. I actually had to pause it a few times before I went on. I don't know, to me, that's classic Office, and it's kindof brilliant. Was it worse than murder? Kiiiinda. But I also think it did show certain layers to Michael's character throughout. I'd go into it more, but I'm at work and I actually have to go do some. lol
- Still continuing to love Community. Not a lot to talk about, but still loving it. It, along with Modern Family, are my two favorite new shows this year.
- Almost caught up on Vampire Diaries. I like it, it's getting much better than I thought it would. I'm a tentative fan.
- How f'n amazing is Survivor this season? HOLY CRAP. Russell's a bastard, but he's becoming one of the best manipulator's this side of Richard Hatch.
- Jeff and Jordan update

Not a lot to report from The Amazing Race. There haven't been that many sightings the last few days. It's *believed* that the teams are heading out of Buenos Aires today, possibly to South Africa or Brazil. There was one picture leaked from the pit stop of a team that was eliminated and it wasn't J/J; but it's expected that, by now, the race is on its 3rd or 4th leg, so who knows? So there's not a lot of good news, but no bad news, either. Here's hoping they're still in it and doing well!
That's it for now, enough procrastination from me. Happy Friday, everyone! :)
