01. Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice:
Oh, I can name a few! Definitely Buffy. I've watched some of those over 5-6 times, but I know I've watched at least every single episode twice. And The Office. I'm currently in the middle of re-watching S3 for the 4th time. I don't like to just watch certain episodes, I prefer to watch whole seasons in order if I can. I've also seen every episode of SG-1 and Bones and Friday Night Lights and Firefly and Sports Night all more than twice.
Most of this is because I don't have internet at my office, so I take my DVDs in to watch when I have down time. I've gone through my DVD collection many times over since February. Oy.
02. Name a show you can't miss:
*A* show? Pft.
The Office, Heroes, Bones, Psych, NCIS, Merlin, Friday Night Lights, Burn Notice, Gossip Girl, Supernatural, Life, Doctor Who, Big Bang Theory, HIMYM, Eli Stone. My soaps (General Hospital, One Life To Live, and All My Children), my reality shows (BB, AI, Survivor, and TAR), and of course The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. I, um, watch a lot of TV. :)
03. Name an actor who would make you more inclined to watch a show:
There are lots of actors I like, but that will only mean I'll check out the show once or twice. If I don't like it, I won't watch it, no matter how much I may like the actor that's in it. Recent example: I love Joshua Jackson, and I wanted to enjoy Fringe, but it bored the hell outta me, so I don't watch it.
04. Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
If a show is good enough, even someone I don't like can't stop me from watching. However, on the flip side - a recent example that did keep me from watching was Anna Friel on Pushing Daisies. I love Lee Pace, but couldn't stand her. And the show, while charming, wasn't strong enough to keep me coming back.
05. Name a show you can and do quote from:
Buffy and The Office, more often than not.
06. Name a show you like that no one else enjoys:
Well, I can't say that NO one else likes them, but shows that I absolutely adore that don't seem to get much attention around my ol' FL would definitely be Psych, Eli Stone, and Burn Notice. I'd be thrilled to be wrong, though!
07. Name a TV show which you've been known to sing the theme song:
SG-1. Oh dear, ever since I saw the DVD commentary that had Peter DeLuise, Joe Mallozi, and Paul Mullie put lyrics to the theme song? I sting it to myself ALLLL the time. (
see the video here) There's Colonel O'Neill, and Carter, and Daaaaaaaaaniel, and Teal'c... look out for that gou-gou-gou-goug-ga-gouuuuld!
08. Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch:
Well, I wish everyone watched The Office, because I bet if people just gave it a shot, they'd love it. I'm proud to have turned a handful of people on my FL onto the show! IT'SSOGOODYOUSHOULDWATCH!
Ahem. But if I only had to recommend one that I thought not enough people watched, it would be Psych. It fills me with so much glee in every episode that I wish everyone could enjoy it.
09. Name a TV series you own on DVD:
Buffy (full box set), The Office 1-4, Heroes 1/2, Bones 1/2, SG-1 1-8, Friday Night Lights 1/2, Life 1, Arrested Development 1, Sports Night (box set), Firefly
10. Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops in television:
I'd probably need more time to answer this for TV, so I'll kindof jump to movies instead. You know who surprises me sometimes is Jennifer Lopez. I think she has a real talent for romcoms, and really doesn't suck at drama. I never expected her to be a talented actress, but she's definitely surprised me.
11. What is your favorite episode of your favorite series?
Oh! My favorite episode of Buffy is, hands down, Once More With Feeling. I know that's kindof a copout since it's just about everyone's favorite episode, but it's just so stellar - and it's a musical! But to be fair, my second favorite episode is Fool For Love. I even wrote a post about my top 20 favorite eps way back in 07
here.
For The Office, it's a little tougher. I do think that the funniest episode is The Injury from S2. I watch it now and I still laugh out loud, which is rare once you've seen comedy programs more than once. Other than that, I absolutely have found that my favorite eps are those with a profound emotional tug, like Business School or Casino Night or Booze Cruise or even Grief Counseling. Oh, goodness, it's just all great.
12. Name a show you keep meaning to watch but you just haven’t gotten around to yet:
Now that I've caught up on Burn Notice and Eli Stone, next on the list would probably be 30 Rock.
13. Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?
So bad? More like just stopped being interesting to me. I have to trust my instincts, I've learned. If I make the time to watch a show, then obviously I'm interested in it enough. I try to give every new show 3 episodes or so to hook me, and if they haven't done it by then, I'm gone. But no, once I've put a few seasons *into* a show, I like to see it through to the end, no matter what. I'm invested at that point.
14. Name a show that's made you cry multiple times:
Oh dear. Buffy, The Office (sensing a pattern here?), Eli Stone, and Supernatural. I cry easily, so this isn't a hard list.
15. What do you eat when you watch TV?
Nothing specific. Sometimes I'll pause my live tv (dvrs, holla!) so I can make dinner before watching. But I watch it at all hours of any given day, so there's no set snack or meal I eat while I watch it.
16. How often do you watch TV?
I have my tv on all the time these days due to the election. But for prime time tv, I'll watch a few hours a night, depending on the schedule. And then I'll have tv episodes that I download to save, and sometimes I'll watch them on my computer. Again, it's fluid, and nothing is set in stone for me. I watch some episodes when I have the time. Only a handful get my full and complete attention at the time that they air.
17. What's the last TV show you watched?
Monday night TV, baby. Heroes, DWtS, and Gossip Girl! But after I post this, I'm off to watch tonight's NCIS and Eli Stone.
18. What's your favorite/preferred genre of TV?
I love and watch everything. I think I tend to enjoy more hour-long dramedies than anything, though.
19. What was the first TV show you were obsessed with?
General Hospital? When I was but a child, I suppose. And then Battlestar Galactica (the original!), but wow, that was a long time ago. I loooooved Apollo.
20. What TV show do you wish you never watched?
If there's something I haven't liked, I just forget about it. I don't tend to dwell on the awfulness of it. No point.
21. What is the weirdest show you enjoyed?
Weird? What constitutes weird these days? I have no idea.
22. What TV show scared you the most?
I think a few Supernaturals have scared me.
23. What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched?
I think The Office is the funniest show, but not in the most obvious way. For obvious funny, I'll go with Friends. I can watch any episode in repeats now and still chuckle throughout. ETA: I hope Mystery Science Theater 3000 counts here, because I think on an episode-by-episode basis, I've never laughed harder than I have during the episodes of MST3K that I've seen.
24. Do you prefer TV to films?
I do, because it gives you the chance to get to know characters much more than films do. You feel much more connected to and invested in them.
25. Name 3 TV relationships that you love.
I need more than three!
The Romance: Jim and Pam (The Office)
The Bromance: Shawn and Gus (Psych)
The Partners: Booth and Brennan (Bones)
The Teams: SG-1 and NCIS
The Perfection: Coach and Mrs Coach (Friday Night Lights)
eta--
The Damaged: Chuck and Blair (Gossip Girl)
That was fun! You should do it. :)
