Little update bout Tyng's June and July months!

Jul 26, 2008 01:03

Been a busy June-July. My weeks filled with activity. Travel was the bulk of these two months. Lemme start from the beginning:

Went to Taiwan on the 15th till 20th of June. It was a business trip. Which was great, seeing that IBM paid for most of it. Stayed in Agora Garden Hotel which was great, it's literally a stone throw away from the IBM Taiwan office. Lesson learned from this trip is that, traveling alone is LONELY. Was telling Dupes when she was here, how weird it was. No one to share moments with, at times when something funny or relevant pops into mind, I wished I could turn and just share it with someone. No one to share treats with too, can't finish most of the things I bought, resulting in now being able to try alot of different things. Bleh, the next time I go to Taiwan it's gonna be with friends or family. Though have to find someone who'll share stinky tofu with me.

Next travel was to Perhentian Island. It was a much needed rest for me. That was from 10th till 12th of July. Perhentian is realy idyllic. Went there with Dupes. Had a great time just doing nothing for 3 days. We both hung out at the deck chairs and did absolutely nothing fruitful to our minds. Watching the waves lap against the shore, making up random stories of other guest of the resort, not to mention falling asleep coz of the gentle sea breeze that's so lulling. We went snorkeling on the 11th, which was great. Got sunburned from that. It's the shape of the life jacket, which was kindda weird. Then I thought to myself "Urgh, Jo's wedding next week!!!! AHHHH!!!". Thank goodness I just turn red and go back to normal easily. 3 days in the sun and no tan. Sucks!

Next travel planned was down to Singapore ( 17th-20th July)I was invited to Yew Minh and Jo-lyn's wedding. I knew Jo from uni days. Days of laughter and fun. I'm so happy that she's finally marrying Yew Minh. I can't forget how shy she was when she first told me bout Yew Minh, the mirth of a little girl just burst forth when she mentions him, that little giggle, that sheepish grin. Keke, that's Jo for you though. She was absolutely breathtaking during the wedding ceremony, perhaps walking down the aisle to the man who's gonna be the leader and protector or her from then on forth is re-assuring. The last time I was down in Singapore was for Jo's sis Sue's wedding, which was just in Jan. I wondered how uncle feels, in the span of 6 months he walked both his precious daughters down the aisle. Talked to their brother bout how he felt bout Jo marrying. He said something so true " I guess I'm prepared and used to the fact since "da jie" got married in Jan". The ceremony was simple, Chris Chia from ARPC gave a mini talk before the recital of vows. He touched on how we, not just family, most importantly family in Christ, should be supporting and keep the couple accountable to their vows. Was a great way of sharing the gospel through this occasion as many of Jo's family's not Christian.

Well I guess that concluded my little travelogue of the month of June-July. The next leg would be December. I'll be going to Manchester, London, Spain and perhaps Egypt. Don't know much bout the plans of that as yet. Need to see how's my work load like, before applying my leave. I'm hoping to take 2 weeks off. It'll be a great time to spend with my family traveling. The last time we did that was last year, we went to Italy and Morocco.

Got more things lined up as the days go by. On the 29th of July there's a training at church to be counselors to girls who approach the front for alter call in church. Need to brush up on my 2WTL, urgh, I think I'm rusty. To think I used to go up to random people in campus to tell people bout the love of God. I shyed away from talking much bout the gospel here in Malaysia, it's so much more hush hush. I'll only get into a discussion bout theology if I know for sure that person's Christian. I feel like I'm a weaker Christian back here, need to find that fire I had before back in Sydney. I think this would be a good start, for on the 2nd of Aug, there would be an evengalistic event in the church car park, hence the training to get myself ready for that. Hope my anti-social behavior won't flare. It took me a long time to actually talk to random people in church, which I don't normally do before. Ok gotta think pro-active from now on.

Oh oh, on the 1st of Aug, I get to go watch "Batman: The Dark Knight" department is paying for that. Tix come with a side order of popcorn and a softdrink. Not too bad.

Phew that's a whole lot of things going on. However I'm truly grateful and thankful to God for providing me with so many opportunities to catch up with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Made new friends along the way too. It's a great great gift to be able to have  a common goal and common topic to talk bout, JESUS!
