Volunteer response

~.: So I applied to be a volunteer with SOME (So Others Might Eat). They sent me a newsletter asking for donations and whatnot, and I realized that, while I can't donate my money, I can certainly donate my time. I read through the newsletter, which explained what their organization is all about, and it's pretty much everything I wish the government would make easier to happen. They serve homeless adults, children, and families, experiencing substance abuse and/or mental illness, and they help get them into programs, transitional housing, and run groups for job coaching, tutoring, life skills, all sorts of things. I really, really approve of this organization. So I said, well, I'm looking for more things to fill my time with, looking to get fulfilled by working in the field I love so much, why not? I filled out their application, I got an email back today with a list of opportunities, and I'm surprisingly more excited than I thought I would be. :) Jenna went ahead and printed out the SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) volunteer application for me as well, which I'll be filling out when I get home to mail to them. I'm really, really excited. ^o^

~.: And there. Some good news for a change. :)

ETA I also thought I would update people on the fact that I'm looking into donating (aka selling) my eggs. Help a woman/couple have a baby, and get money for it. :) I'm doing a lot of research about what all goes into it, to make sure I fully understand the risks. I've emailed one place located in DC about their policy on unused embryos, because I personally feel against the destruction of embryos, or the use of them for stem cell research. To me, it would be the same as destroying my developing biological child (though legally not mine -- still a part of me). I got a response from this place, and she informed me that most couples save them for baby #2, or donate them to other couples, but that there was no guarantee. I'm gonna keep searching around. Also, some places compensate more than others, though it looks like the general expectation can be around $6000. I could really use that $6000.

money, yay, thoughtful, volunteer, excited, huh, w00t, good news, babies, egg donation
