~.: Yup, just what the title says. I'm considering a career change. Not a drastic one, just one that'll better put my skills and interests to work. At first, I thought I'd want to be a research psychologist (yes, I had to actually look up the term- don't judge me), but then I realized it would be my senior thesis class all over again and decided that as much as I love being a student, even that was a little too much for me. Besides, it seems that a requirement of becoming a research psychologist is that you must also be a professor. Do not want, kthx.
~.: I was doing a Google search for research psychologists and reading the job description and whatnot, and one of the pages had a link to "related careers." School psychologist was one of them. Why had I never considered this? It appeals to the part of me that wants to counsel, and allows me to work with children, which I've done for my whole life (and spent nearly four years doing working at daycare), and which I also enjoy. I remember, it was the child psychologists that I disliked the most and their field that I wanted to change for other kids to get something out of their help. Part of the job description was also coming up with and implementing new ways to help guide children and make their learning environments more engaging, and teaching parenting skills. I'm so down for that.
~.: Oh, also, they make twice what I make now. Yes please.
