Dear Mary Baldwin Faculty, Students, and Staff,
Today, Dr. Chadwick Blackwell, formerly a member of the Mary Baldwin College faculty, has been indicted for possession of child pornography.
Since October 2007, when alleged illegal material on Dr. Blackwell’s computer was reported, Mary Baldwin College has cooperated fully with law enforcement officials as they conducted an in-depth investigation. Dr. Blackwell was placed on suspension, with instructions not to appear on campus. He has subsequently submitted his resignation.
Throughout the remainder of the 2007-08 academic year, we worked to ensure that teaching and learning were disrupted as little as possible. Immediately following Dr. Blackwell’s suspension in October, his duties were assigned to other faculty members. His students were personally notified by the chair of the psychology department that Dr. Blackwell was on leave until further notice, and that their classes would continue without interruption.
We care deeply about each and every Mary Baldwin student. In this instance, as always, we exercised thorough diligence at each step of the process to ensure the safety of our students and the excellence of the academic environment.

~.: He was seriously one of my favorite professors. I loved him. He even invited me to co-present with him at a conference last summer (which I turned down because I was stupid and lazy). And he had two little sons. To hear him talk about his sons- I never once ever even had the slightest inkling to have the notion that he might do something like that. It's just really sad. :/
~.: On a much lighter note, today was incredibly busy at work (after a really long, boring lull). I got to do notes (which I actually really like now, now that I've gotten to know some of the clients better), sit in on two groups and some one-on-ones, and starting tomorrow, I'll be taking my own notes during evaluations, and that way I can do diagnoses on my own~~ ^o^ I really like this internship (I wouldn't do this forever; it's definitely not my calling). Very cool learning experience.
