~.: First off, I'm a little surprised to see that even though I haven't checked LJ all day I haven't really missed anything. Huh ...
~.: So about yesterday. It was totally my last day working at the Land of Minnie, which makes me feel both happy and a little bit sad. I'm definitely glad to be out of that hostile working environment where the director lies to her employees and to the parents, and where gossiping is as prevelant in the center hallways as it was in high school hallways. Glad to be away from parents who are robots (I'm convinced) and coworkers who think they can come into a room and boss you around just because they happen to be older. However! I am sad to leave my babies behind. D: I may not have been there for very long but I did develop some attachment towards the kids, and I was a little sad thinking that I'd probably never see any of them again. -pout- Especially my two favorites- Max, the peanut butter baby whose parents are robots, and Anna, the little cross-eyed girl who trips over her own shadow and is fluent in the word "Guahaajkjfdajfdklajfdkljafieahahaaaa." ♥
~.: They let me go home way early too. I went on my two-hour break at ten, got back at twelve while it was still nap time, and at two when the kids got up from nap they told me I could go home. I felt like I had a four hour break with only two and a half hours of actual work. :D I called Layne to come get me and we had fun listening to the thunder storm at her house. :3
~.: And then Sarah came and we went to Kobe for dinner where I paid for Layne's food and alcoholic beverage (because me luvs her so much ♥). I've never paid so much for food in my life. o.o I have no right to complain because I did pick the restaurant and I did offer to pay for Layne because she is teh poor, and I did say I didn't care if she got the scallops or a drink, but next time I will have to be more of a cheapskate and probably only offer at someplace cheaper. Like McDonald's. :>
~.: Dinner was followed by the Simpsons Movie, which was amazing by the way. I love the Simpsons because they are a perfect caricature of American culture. I think alot of people (especially conservatives) will have issues with the movie because of how overly political it was, but they did a really good job of covering their bases. At times they were clearly anti-Christian, but at others they were pro-Christian. They were anti-environmentalists, and pro-environmentalists. They referenced and made fun of so many other movies it wasn't even funny (but it was though, and we all laughed :D) Though Marge's use of GD did throw me off because it was just so out of character for her, and after watching the Simpsons for close to 16 years without hearing anything worse than damn or hell, it was a bit .... shocking, and unnecessary in my opinion. :x But that could just be me.
~.: So yeah. Afterwards, Sarah and I dropped Layne off and then she took me home where I proceeded to do all my packing for this week. I really shouldn't have waited until the day before leaving to pack. :x I was up for a while (but Layne is made of awesome and kept me company :D).
~.: The drive up was long and boring for the most part, as usual. We listened to alot of my CD's in Mom's car, which was exciting because it's only recently that she's really gotten into Christian music, and she's trying to psych herself up for Kingdom Bound. We listened to a burned CD she had with different artists and songs on it, then tobyMac's Portable Sounds and then a little of Skillet's latest, followed by Casting Crowns. It was pretty awesome.
~.: And holy crap, today is my brother's birthday. He's 17 and today is the first time I've seen him since Christmas. He gets taller and taller every time I see him, I swear, and his hair- omg his hair. I want his hair. He has nicer hair then me. >> It's wrong. But he's actually turning into a young man and it's kinda scary. He's so much more mature now, even since Christmas. He's come a long way since rehab. I'm proud of him. :D
~.: Morgan and I watched The Prince of Egypt on my laptop because that movie is made of awesome and there isn't much else I can do with my laptop because Mom has DSL and no one in the state of New York seems to have wireless- therefore, I cannot mooch. >>; But I discovered that the details of the Exodus are kinda not appropriate for five-year-olds, because it's really hard to explain why God killed the firstborn of the Egyptians (and whatever Hebrews decided they totally weren't gonna paint their doors with lamb's blood) without it sounding totally juvenile. :x "Well, the Egyptians did it first, so God was just getting them back." It sounds so bad and I suppose essentially, that's what it was. It was just God's vengeance coming back full circle. The other plagues displayed God's power to defeat even the Egyptian gods (each plague represented the defeat of a different Egyptian god), and the last plague, the death of the firstborn, was not only bringing Egypt's own malice back upon its head, but also showing that God can defeat Ra, the main Egyptian god that represented life and the sun. But it's hard to explain that to a five-year-old so the way I was explaining it to Morgan just made it seem silly. But she's really smart and she caught on to it quickly. She saw how God was represented at first by the burning bush and how His Spirit was portrayed by the glowy light thing during the smiting of the firstborns, so that by the time it got to the part where Moses was splitting the Red Sea and God came down in pillars of fire Morgan was like, "It's God! He's protecting the people. He's putting them on separate sides." And yes, she said separate. I don't know too many five-year-olds that use the word separate, and I know alot of five-year-olds. Normally they just say different.
~.: Anyway, I'm attempting to update Gaia stuff, even though I'm really tired. My life is so hard.
