It means "to close" like closing a gap or, in this case, distance. Futari de distance shijimete = together we can close this distance.

I think it's implied in the context. I copied it from lyrics. :> Just like there's no "o" after distance. Particles and whatnot get dropped all the time, but we haven't learned that yet. :x
