Gold Metal II
Summary: The morning after the drunken rage.
Warning: Not much here. Fluff

He woke the next day with a hell of a headache and one prominent thought: what the hell happened last night? He tried to think, but the last thing he remembered was goofing off with Compagnon and Ace and shooting Jeannot and Niall suggestive looks just to watch them squirm. The former more than the latter.
“You're awake” came a voice off to his left, an angel's voice, soft as a sigh.
He smirked, groping blindly for the source, reluctant to open his eyes. “How'd ya know?”
One silky hand grasped his wandering one, the other brushing across his forehead, then down his cheek in a tender caress. “Your breathing changed”
“Hm. When'd you get back?” The older man finally opened his eyes, smiling as he noticed that the room was mercifully dim.
“Last night” A touch of worry flicked through Balfour's eyes as he traced Adamo's face, which, to the younger man's misfortune, did not go unnoticed.
“What happened last night? Did I do something?” he asked, hurt by the bruises in those beautiful eyes he so loved.
“You were, ah, quite drunk.”
Adamo sat up, gripping Balfour's hand tightly, lips thin. The hesitation in the blue-eyed man's voice told the older man more than he thought.
“What'd I do?” he asked cautiously, his voice rough.
“You were just in a bad mood. The kitchen's pretty trashed” Balfour frowned “I'm sorry. It's my fault for staying away so long”
“Don't” Adamo said, cupping the brunette's face. “Don't apologize for that. It was educational. Don't you dare apologize for anything to do with your education.” It's all you have left, he added silently.
“Adamo-“
“Come on,” he cut him Balfour off before he began to read too much into the emotions playing quite openly across his face. “Let's see the damage I've done to the kitchen”
“There's apple on the door” the younger man said, slightly amused. He rose with Adamo, wrapping his arms around him, gloved metal hands clinging tightly and suddenly, sickeningly, all his drunken thoughts of the past night slammed into him, forcing him back onto the bed. Balfour was beside him in record time, asking if he was okay and what was wrong, hands fluttering helplessly. Adamo took one and removed the glove, kissing it sadly, feeling Balfour freeze beneath his touch. He looked up and smiled.
“You do that a lot” Balfour said, slightly uncomfortable still with any attention paid to his hands.
“Every time I start bein' stupid 'bout them” he said softly, caressing the place where golden metal met pale flesh gently, causing Balfour's breath to hitch.
“S-stupid?”
“It ain't right” he said as he frowned at the metal hand. “You lost everything-“
“That's not true!” Balfour cut him off. “I have the only thing I need right here!”
“Balfour-“
He cut him off again, this time with a sudden kiss. Placing his hands on Adamo's shoulders, he met his gaze straight on. “Flesh or metal, they're still functional hands. I can still do the same things with these as the others. As for losing everything, I didn't. I still have you, don't I?”
At that, Adamo pulled Balfour into a gentle hug, kissing him along the side of his face. “You're so good, so kind. How can you do it? How can you not hurt?”
“I do, but when I look at this” he presented a wrist with a braided bracelet “it all goes away” He placed a gentle kiss on Adamo's lips.“It'd be easier, though, if all this weren't so hard on you.”
He kissed back, pulling his lover into his favorite position, Balfour on his lap, facing him. “I'm sorry, love” he said quietly. “It's nice to know you're not taking this” he traced the lines of the metal hand again “too badly”
“I have you, don't I? What else do I need?”
“It does help, having you to come home to, or to wait for” Adamo smiled then, laying back on the bed, pulling Balfour with him. “I'm comfy now”
“So am I” he agreed, drifting off.
