so, going to the dentist is really not a big deal. and getting wisdom teeth pulled is something people do everyday. so there's nothing to worry or whine about, right?

about three weeks ago, i went to a fancy dental office that looked sort of like this:

it was nicely decorated, all the equipment was new (she opened her office in october) and high tech. except i felt like i was at a used car lot and the dentist was trying to sell me electric toothbrushs and toothpaste that you applied in the am and in the pm. upon asking what the difference between the am toothpaste and the pm toothpaste the dentist said there was no difference. she admitted it was a marketing scheme.

she also had her breast pressed against the side of my face while cleaning my teeth. maybe that's how she passed dental school, but it was really awkward and i probably won't ever go back.

and today, i went to go see an oral surgeon whose office looked sort of like this:

and i felt like i was in a horror movie sort of like this:

but he was a nice jolly old man who didn't try to sell me am/pm toothpaste and i forgot i was in a shabby and sterile office that he probably hasn't updated since he started his practice 30 years ago.

and as much as i like things to be asthetically pleasing and i initally felt more at ease with the nicely decorated, newly purchased equipment, i think i rather prefer being in the hands of fat jolly old man with experience than breast-wielding toothbrush hawker.
