So, yeah. Lots of stuff going on at the moment, and no updates from me. So here we go with a few observations of entetainment, and a smidge about reality:

Movies:

Apocalypto. I expected a rather shonky historical epic with gratuitous violence. What I got was a rather good action/chase film... with gratuitous violence. Hokey but great fun. Gibson is quite patently sectionable, but hey - what you gonna do (as they say in most gangster flicks)? Squirting brains, face-eating jaguars and a leading actor who looks like a smaller version of The Rock in Scorpion King. Well executed, and only a little bit silly. Oh, and as augustus_hill  pointed out, a hidden shot of Wally (as in Where's Wally) in the pit of bodies. Mad as a salad.

Comic book movies: Joss (Buffy) Whedon gone from Wonder Woman ("I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked") and David "Batman Begins" Goyer has gone from The Flash ("The God's honest truth is that WB and myself simply couldn't agree on what would make for a cool Flash film.") and replaced by Shawn "Cheaper by the Dozen" Levy ("I'm aiming for a lighter movie than previous Warners comic book adaptations"). It seems the renaissance of comic-to-film adaptations is on its last legs. The last gasp will be Spidey 3 and Iron Man. I know I'm the only human alive excited at seeing FF2 and Ghost Rider will suck flaming arse, so we'll move on.

Can George Lucas fuck it up one final time? Whilst the CGI Clone Wars grinds in to action, and the live action Star Wars TV show coughs and splutters at the scripting stage, it seems that one last cool thing may come from GL's cash-worn fingers. Yep - the official announcement and release date of Indiana Jones IV. The old coot hits our screens May 22nd 2008 - and both Archaeology, and being a pensioner become cool for one last time.

Tellyland:

ANTM: Getting a feel for this year's bunch. My hot pick from day 1 is AJ - although I suspect they're saddling her with this year's "not got the passion for it" label - as she seem less prone to screaming with her elbows bent.

BSG is still (as of 3.13) the best thing since the idea of trees. Heroes is still fun - but hardly ground breaking. Eccleston seems to play himself.

Oh, and how fun was it seeing that twonk from Towers of London getting demolished on Buzzcocks? Ace.

Real life:

Moving blinkingly into the light of real life, the godawful weather could have come at a better time - as
orphiel   and I are doing a tour of the southern part of the UK in, looking at boats this weekend. Will also hopeful catch up with various people south of the Watford Gap whilst there. Which is nice.

Oh, and I'm now offically fucking sick of not playing in a band I like.

Umm.. I'm sure there was more.. But I can’t remember what. Ho hum. Rock on, honourable ones.

movie posters, bsg being the greatest thing ever, antm (still not gay), star wars, comic book stuff
