Well... That was a weekend.
Strange weekend in which I both laughed outragously and cried openly. I suspect a traditional Hot and Not would simply not work here, so train of thought meanderings will have to do. The highs were really quite high, and the low unprecedentedly low. IC I met awesome new people, spent time with those I have been without for far too long, bonded with those with whom I have never previously seen eye to eye, and was blindsided by a gutting loss. OC, I was - as usual - surrounded by some kickass friends that I see far too infrequently, and was rather pleased to find some people I had previously thought to be utter towels were actually kinda okay. With regards to the stain on the otherwise excellent weekend (if you're reading this and you don't know, I'm not gonna be the person to explain it), there was an odd sense of unity and bonding over shared outrage and confusion over what went down, how and why (both IC and OC). I was, at least, genuinely impressed by the backpedaling and bridge building that occured subsequently, and the palpable anger that spread accross the field was hopefully some small consolation of the yellow-vested spirit that got to witness it. When faced with manure, at least we ended the event with merely a stain and a lingering bad smell (check me and my awesome poo metaphor).
On a perkier note, the gyppos were once again the shitznit, and it was fab playing at old-school piking with the usual crew. Ian (I've missed ya, bro), Steve, Alice, Dan, Neil, Tim and Lauren was a dream team when it comes to being lightfingered like there was no tomorrow, and the Tepes, Tribe and Black Hand were a pleasure to rolemaplay with (special mention to the sidesplitting exasperated rantings that was part Vlad, part Alick). In general, it was an exceptionally good, well thought out and well run GEF (which as both HG and GEF is normally my least favourite mainline), and as usual, and perhaps moreso given the events of late, I came out of it being proud as fuck of my faction.
Am clean... Need curry.
