“There’s nothing wrong with men nuzzling beards together; we call that a man shake back in Michigan.”
I worked with Howie and Atlanta Chris for the first half of the day today, which was awesome. We had a super short list of rooms, and Kim said we could leave after we were finished. I never specifically worked with Howie before, he’s actually a really cool kid and we went through our list of rooms before the 2:00 break which is a record for me. We thought we were all good and going to get to head home but then Marcia came by and informed us that (once again) Allie’s team was way behind and needed help so I joined Tyler and a team of new Asian people who just came in today (I nicknamed them the Asian Army) and helped them wrap up their rooms for an hour or two.
In the middle of the day Spring, the office assistant here, called me down and informed me I got the office assistant job here which is awesome. I love office work for some reason, even though from what I understand her job is really tedious and involves a lot of data entry. Atlanta Chris told me they really wanted someone with a lot of payroll experience, which I told them I only had super minimal experience with during my interview, so I hope that she wasn’t banking on me being some crazy payroll master because I’m def not. I know whatever I’m taught I can pick up pretty easily though, I just hope I don’t disappoint them ‘cause a real lot of people applied for the job and I hope they like end up feeling that they picked a competent person in me. I’ve had Saturdays and Sundays off thus far, but I think those are the days Spring is looking to have off, so not sure what my schedule will be from now on but we’ll see I guess.
They had another shakedown dinner tonight, which is where the staff and chefs at restaurants here practice serving and preparing the food for their particular place so we get to eat there instead of the EDR…but pretty much the food is usually the same crappy food they serve at the EDR so it’s more just for the change of dining scenery I guess. Sean, Andrew, Tyler, Angie, Adrienne and I all had dinner together at the Old Faithful Lodge Cafeteria, which has (as one would expect) a really nice view of Old Faithful and a huge fireplace in the dining area. I ate crappy vegetarian lasagna, which is the same exact bleh food they serve at the EDR, but I did get some chocolate pudding so that was cool.
Afterwards we were supposed to go watch a movie in the rec hall but it had already started and looked kinda lame so we ended up just hanging out and Sean, Andrew, and I played a sweet game of badminton.
Andrew was talking about going for a hike late tonight but I feel a migraine coming on and I havta start training for the OA job tomorrow so I’m not sure if I want to go, I think they’re just going to the observation point again tonight which I’ve done a few times already so it’s not a huge deal if I miss it…unless they see a bear…in which case I’ll be real super pissed I didn’t go.
I was looking at my calendar and counted the number of days I have left here, not necessarily in a negative way, but partly to remind myself to utilize the time I have here to see the most stuff I can. Only 80 days left. Only 6 ‘til my birthday (hint hint get on sendin’ out those birthday cards!!) It seems like such a long time left here when I think about home, and yet I know it’ll seem like it flew by when I leave.
Now just sitting in my room having a sing along to Tenacious D with Sean and Marcello. Perhaps reading then some bobos.
