I for one, welcome our new baby overlord!

Today my little love is a little over a month old.

Parenthood is a lot like Sherman's March to the Sea. You'll remember that from history class, (or maybe not). Let me put it to you this way. During the Civil War, William Tecumsah Sherman, a Union General, was ordered to march to the sea. He did so while cutting a swathe of destruction through the south. This is the man who coined the phrase "War is hell." So anyway, new parenthood is like that. Here's a hint: We're not Sherman. The baby is Sherman, right down to the pugnacious expression. My husband and myself? We're the South. That is to say we are getting taken down by a relentless invader. And just like the South, the beat down is one we more or less asked for.

To be fair though, she is much, much cuter than this guy.

Ironically, as the pressures mount, (the deluge of grandparents and relatives on their way to see her, the holiday season and the imminent return of my husband and then myself to work), I have figured out a rather crucial element of my R vs. J story, that is, how to introduce the bad people who will, if all goes to plan, push the narrative action.
