This chair sounds fabulous. My parents passed back in 2018/2019. I remember trying to offload a gorgeous oak dining set, and being so happy when I finally found someone willing to take it, who seemed geniunely happy to take it and keep its life going. I hope the chair finds its new home.
I've gone through clearing out things from my parents' house. I could relate to a lot of this but didn't even remotely have any contact with Jesus! Fun entry for sure!
I would happily take that chair! Lord knows I don't need it, but I can't resist the "free stuff" sign on things. We frequently get rid of old office furniture at my job, and as a result my house is furnished mostly with cast-offs - old reception chairs and couches, old desks, old desk chairs, even some random decor. I have a whole room in my house that is basically just a storage closet for things I brought home for free and couldn't find an actual home for.
Typing all of that out makes me think that maybe I should endeavor to give those things a chance at a new life and do a similar "everything's free" garage sale myself sometime.
My husband once worked for a while for a business that was going out of business. Their job was to close everything down: financing, property dispersed, etc, etc. Think about it, the better he did his job, the sooner he would be out of a job. At any rate, we acquired several cast-off furnishings, armchairs, file cabinets, etc.
I never saw any real value in having a garage sale. Things sell at a rate that is probably, at best, only about 10% of their value. You get into lengthy discussions about whether you'll take $10 or $5 for a lamp that originally cost closer to $100. No thanks! But when it turns into a way to declutter or unload your house, it's fun! No negotiating needed. Unless you count conversations like "If you want the lamp, I'll throw in the side table for free."
