Fruity Birthday Plans

Jun 14, 2005 17:55

Well I spent my last birthday having an uneventful day in court and a enjoyable evening in Regent's Park with a load of people who like dressing up in silly clothes (ie: barristers. You were thinking larpers weren't you?)

While that was all very pleasant, I face the depressing prospect of turning 29 tomorrow (Wednesday 15th June) and so need something altogether more mind-thrashing to distract myself from the fact that I will only be a fresh-faced winsome 20something for a mere 12 months more.

You may or may not now that I'm currently being a gentleman of leisure because I went under the knife 8 weeks ago and am still on crutches (which I can't be for work). My foot's mending slowly but (seemingly) surely, though annoyingly more slowly than was originally anticipated. I had intended to write this email a few weeks ago, but put it off until I knew for certain that my health would allow me to return to London for the 15th.

So... tomorrow evening.

I feel the need to indulge my dark side (it's a Gemini thing, maybe) and so am opting to go to "an exciting subterranean fantasy in the dank, dark vaults of London Bridge" or a "minimalist cocktail of sex-and-death, circus sleaze and club concert" if you will. If you too would like to "feel like a metropolitan Alice in Wonderland", then please come and join me at Tropicana in the Shunt Vaults below London Bridge...

When: Wednesday 15th June 2005
9pm-10.30pm (doors open 8:30pm, no late entry)

Where: Shunt Vaults; entrance in Joiner Street by London Bridge station (opposite the main exit of the Underground Station)

Cost: just £10! (*if* you book by ringing the National Theatre booking line on O2O 7452 3OOO between 9am and 8pm today (Tuesday) or 9am and 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday) and quote the "Shunt £10 offer" (Tues and Wed shows only) which is on some promotional leaflets. Otherwise it might be the normal £20 (£15 conc) on the door, though I'll have a couple of the leaflets with me when I'm picking up my tickets at the Box Office tomorrow evening - with those they might let people pay £10 on the door). When I rang up today however they only had 30 tickets left, so I'd recomend booking on the phone.

Seats: There are no seats - you move around the vaults during the show!

Full details, more reviews, map of how to get there, online booking (but would be normal (ie: full) price):
http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/?lid=9864

People who live out of town - the show finishes at 10:30pm, but you're very welcome to crash with me in Shepherd's Bush if you'd like.

Any questions, ring me on my mobile Oh79 Oh383 Oh783 (I probably won't get to my email tomorrow).

See you there,
Jules xx
