I go through phases where I don't update for a really long time, and then so much has happened that it seems too overwhelming to write it all down. So, I suppose I won't even try, except to say that both a lot and nothing really has happened. I'll just go with yesterday, instead.

Work yesterday afternoon was a piece of ridiculousness in which all my least favorite patrons came and came to stay and then the printing went down. And then I rushed to class, which was both wonderful and horrible as it was 2.5 hours of talking about romance novels, with the discussion led by this 20-something sorta hipster librarian romance novel enthusiast. The most important things I learned:

There are some really great romance blogs out there, but this one is decidedly the best, for many reasons.

And, if you ever wanted to write romance novels, this site is quite revealing. The Christian romance guidelines are particularly interesting. Heaven forbid we be titillated by discussion of a raffle!

Also, our speaker seemed to think that saying naughty words would make her cool. It didn't.

After class last night, I went to see a band called Holy Fuck, and jesus were they awesome. It was like a drummer and a bass player and then these two guys with all matter of ridiculous equipment spinning knobs and pressing peddles and running tape and singing into butter knives and they were all dancing all over the stage and having a blast. And boy was it fun.

I've been listening to the hell out of some Vampire Weekend, and a bunch of other good music, thanks to one Deborah Carver. A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders when I recognized A-Punk as the awesome crowd favorite song from the hipster librarian dance party in Philly that I've been trying to find ever since. Apparently I was right in guessing that it'd reach Chapel Hill, or at least me, about two months after it was already huge in the Philly/New York librarian circles. Where the eff have I been to not hear this already?

My parents are coming tomorrow for a few days. My house is clean, and I think I'm actually looking forward to it now. Perhaps a few days of parentally-excused absence from life will be good for my currently overly active mental processes.

Oh, and if you haven't already, watch this. I've been pretty annoyed with politics lately, or at least those friends of mine really into talking about it in an obnoxious way, so it's nice to see something that really inspires me to feel not jaded for once.

Also, by tomorrow, I will hopefully be the proud bearer of a plane ticket to Paris. And that makes me very happy indeed.
