Ventilation

How would you recommend putting the best ventilation in a suit? I wear glasses and I don't want them to fog up... I was thinking of ear vents, poking holes in the foam before putting fur on it, having a removable tongue so I could breathe better and making a plush nose with holes in it and maybe making some sort of vent on the top of the head under ( Read more... )

I think the ear holes would work if you conceal them with longer fur. You should have a hole in the mouth to breathe and drink water even if your jaw is static.

You could put a fan(pointing at your face to let air in)in the muzzle instead of nose vents, which I don't think would work too well. I've hear of other builders put fans on the top of their mask blowing air out, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that.

I don't know how to deal with glasses cause I don't have them. I'm happy to help! :D

The way we do it at work is the hole method, we cover the gap with plastic canvas to keep the shape.

Where would I be able to find that at?

Hobby lobby, Jo-ann's, walmart. If you're not in the states check knitting stores. It's a big clear sheet of plastic that looks like a lattice grid. Some people use it for eyes bit the holes are a bit too big, makes good vents though!

First reason why your glasses fog up is your breath isn't allowed to exit the muzzle. Making sure the hole aligns well with your mouth and nose will reduce that problem. A balaclava that covers the wearers mouth can cause breath to divert up instead of out

Second reason why they fog is a buildup of heat. Having a fan may not cool you down but it may help pull heat out of the head. Making room for a fan automatically makes your muzzle more hollow.

I encourage people to simply wear contacts if able or just take a few extra breaks to cool off.

Having a fan in the muzzle to pull hot, wet air away from your face is a BIG help.
