Hello, fursuiters! This is my first ever livejournal entry, as well as my first foray into building a fursuit, so please bear with me. I have been a furry for about 5 years now, but have finally decided it would be fun to put myself out there more. I decided there was no time like the present to get started on a suit, and at the very least it would be an excellent Halloween costume for years to come. :)
Anyway! Here are links to 2 rough, hand drawn concepts for what I am hoping to accomplish with this suit. Taken from my phone (no scanner) but I think they should be clear enough to demonstrate what I want.
The overall costume

Specifically modeled after a Pallid Bat, my fursona. I imagine the mask could be 2 parts (see photo 2) and the suit itself would be one piece, with a zipper in the back. I also plan to wear a shirt and/or shorts over the top of the suit so it will have a bit more personality. This makes it kind of a fusion between a full and partial suit, but I think the uniqueness could help it stand out.
I have read several topics/memories that warned about large wings, but I think I can get away with these if I can fold them as depicted in the first photo. To me, they are integral to the whole thing looking and feeling right.
I also annotated with a bunch of ideas about materials/ideas on specific parts.
So, what do you all think? Is this too big a dream for a first-time suiter? Any suggestions for materials or techniques? This is just preliminary, so any advice/critiques/suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Drekana the Pallid Bat
