Pretty quiet here... has anyone in the northern latitudes been getting out so far this spring? (even though I guess the equinox isn't for another couple weeks

I personally don't like the integrated turn signal modules that are available, even though they clean up the bike. I've ridden behind someone who had them, and it was sometimes difficult to know when they were braking, especially when in the twisty, hilly roads. This was especially bad since I could lose them for a second around a hill or a bend, and the next second when I could see them again I wasn't sure if they were braking or not. If they were, sometime I was almost panic braking since it took that extra second to realize they were braking, and sometime hard.
What I personally believe bikes should have also are an independent brake light, much like cars have now somewhere in the rear window or on the spoiler. I think they got introduced in the 80s for cars, but I recall hearing the statistics in driving school that collisions went down about 30% when they were introduced. Is that factual? I don't know, but an independent brake light would give you no doubt that someone is braking since if they're not the light would be off. For cars, that third brake light probably let people farther back behind other cars see that cars far in front of them were braking and gave them some more warning.
Anyhow, in my case, I think I'll try not to reduce my visibility, so I'm sticking with stock lights, so something more visible.
