riding to/at/after FC2013?

Hey, is anybody else thinking about riding to FC2013? I'm considering coming down from Seattle on the bike, but Siskiyou Pass looks like it might be kind of iffy and I'm not sure if 199 to 101 will be any better so I'm still debating it. Are there any roads around SF that are still fun to ride this time of year? Anybody planning a local ride ( Read more... )

Challenge is the weather, which is likely as not to be soupy.

As for a local ride, are you more boulevard cruiser or canyon carving bruiser? Lots of excellent routes for both styles, and more than a few that are satisfying for both :)

The only time I don't ride in Seattle is when it's icing up, so soupy is fine. I was going to superslab it in one shot on the way down, then maybe play around SF for a few days before heading back. No fixed schedule, I'm un(der)employed at the moment. I'm definitely more for carving the canyons. Is Skyline/Hwy 9 still a fun road this time of year?

Yeah the 9 is wonderful, and the trip to Alice's Restaurant is a pretty excellent one.

There's a half dozen ways to make the ride too, going back the coastal route if you want a longer ride is totally excellent too - instead of re-tracing your route, turn towards the coast at Alice's, then South when you hit the Highway 1, then back inland over the 17.

Cool, thanks for the suggestion; if I make it, I'll definitely do that. If you or other furs would be interested in a ride, I'm fine dialing it back, but if I'm solo I tend to run a brisker pace. ;)

Maybe more fun for everyone to say "Meet ya there!" so the rocket ships can rocket and the cruisers can rumble on up the mountain at their v-twin battleship speeds.
