I am at a loss as to how to arrange the living room. I couldn't stand the utter chaos anymore yesterday, so I just arranged it so it had some kind of structure ( Read more... )

1) I'd like to be able to sew inside the house, as opposed to in the garage. Therefore, I'd like to have a corner of the living room to put my sewing table and machine. (I like to half-watch movies while sewing.) Any idea on how/where to put this kind of area?

I think its cool to have sewing going on in the common area. Makes me feel very...homey. Like I should go milk the cow and then churn the butter. One downside, it can be noisy. Failing that, I'd like to put it in our room. Regardless of where the sewing area is, I'd like to see it set up while in use and broken down and stored neatly when not.

2) Where will we have computers? Living room? Bedrooms?

I'd also like to have my machine in the common area, being that our room is filling up fast, and I dislike having excess machinery in the place where I sleep. Once again, bedroom is good alternate and garage is doable. I didn't realize how dirty the box was because it was hidden under a table before. It'll definitely get a thorough cleaning before long.

3) pepperkat mentioned trying to make it so the living room isn't focused on the TV. I agree. Something that I know can be good to make it so the TV isn't staring at us all the time is to put a cover over it when it's not being used. Also, arranging seating so it isn't all pointing at the TV can be good. Any thoughts on this? Suggestions?

I don't like the TV staring at me constantly either. If we simply rotate the entertainment center so it no longer diagonal, the TV's influence would be limited to half the room. There's also some boxes in the living room that could be gone soon to provide more finagling room.
