I haven't done this previously because I worry it sounds like begging( and it is, but it's also way more about breaking the monotony and having an exchange than getting stuff), but I just filled a small box with stuff I already had for someone else and it made the blah season feel a little better, so...

Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friends friends, or just random journals, or [info]holiday_wishes/[info]wish_list) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

I'm not sure if I've even got 10 things I want, but hm...
1. http://www.townsend-records.co.uk/sites/garynuman/index.php?productId=6373&pTypeId=5&type=merch Probably size M

2.Any of the last three Shriekback albums, especially Glory Bumps( haven't had money since they've started doing music again, but they are one of my favorites ever and still sound good from what I've heard)

3. A metal detector. I had one as a child and wore it out, have been putting this on my wishlists for years. Never seem to have the money without a more pressing need happening. Admittedly this'd be cooler around my birthday since it can't be used in winter.

4. Gift cards to Amazon, B&N, Utrecht, Micheal's or PetsMart. So often I find what I want is not specific things, but the ability to make an unplanned purchase.

5. A new mattress since mine is doing in my back( yeah, not likely!).

6. An oil change and new radiator for my '97 Sidekick, since I don't think anyone is giving away a new one of those.

7. Totally frivolous want: Kirara plushie! Moogles are good, too.

That's really all I can think of. Email viverra @ xmission.com
