Classes. They were done. And even if Max was still trying to get some of the glitter out of his hair he considered the most recent batch to be a success. It helped that the students he had been given were conscientious (well, in a way) and competent. And now he was looking forward to a well-deserved break ( Read more... )

Momoko knocked on the door, a cheerful grin on her face as she waited for Centurion's permission to enter. She was also holding a box, if one wondered.

Wow... considering that the class was over, Max was feeling rather popular with all these visitors. "Come in," he called, sitting forward and looking to see who was stopping by.

Still grinning, Momoko opened and peaked around the door. "Hi, Centurion! I just dropped by to give you these!" She held up the box she'd handwavily bought from the bakery. "Real cupcakes! That don't explode or anything! I checked!" Twice.

"A person's last memory of cake shouldn't ever be a bad one!"

Max lifted an eyebrow. "Does this mean you were responsible for the ones in class?" he asked. He was teasing because... this was Momoko. He wouldn't put a prank past her, but a prank that wasted cake?

Momoko laughed. "No way! I'll admit my baking isn't very good, but I haven't had anything blow up!" She looked for a place to set the box down. "I thought at first it was just random food! Like the fruit, and the cookies? But then after one exploded on me I thought maybe you'd put them there so that we could use them for the exam! I couldn't figure out how to move them without blowing them up, though."

"They weren't from me," Max shook his head. "And... I have my suspicions."

"But now there are non-exploding cupcakes, huh? You going to share them with me?"

"Well, it would have been a good idea if they were! I mean, who would expect the people you're invading to use explosive baked goods on you?! It'd totally be the ultimate awesome attack! But like I said, these won't. And they're for you! I'll totally have one, though, if you want me to prove they're edible?" For a third time.

"You don't have to prove anything, but I'd love it if you'd share some with me." Two or three. He was sure she could manage that.

Totally could!

"Well, if you insist. Thank you very much!" She took one and beamed at him. "See, it didn't blow up! Explosions have their place, but totally not in cakes! So why do you think they were there if you didn't do it and it wasn't the island?"

"Well,, I have my suspicions," Max smirked, "but I'm glad to see that these don't explode." He took one for himself. Cupcakes tended to be a little bit sweet for his taste, but he wasn't about to turn down the gift.

"Is that what happened to your face? I just got cake in my face and hair." She tilted her head and raised an eyebrow. "I'm sorry, Centurion. If I'd known they were that dangerous, I would have made sure to get them off the island and away from everyone."

That didn't mean she'd failed the exam, right?

"They weren't that bad," Max grins. "And they weren't part of the exercise."

"Good! Although I still probably should have done something. That's what a heroine of Justice is supposed to do, after all - keep people safe!" She bit into her cupcake.

"It's not like the cupcakes were a real threat," Max laughed.

"True." Momoko chuckled, then gave a small gasp. "Ah! Sorry! I didn't mean to imply that you couldn't keep us safe or anything! I trust you! You're a good teacher, even if you do like running. A lot of running."

"I didn't take it that way at all," Max laughed. "You've been a very enthusiastic student."
