Hi. Been lurking your journal for a long time, I really enjoy reading your reactions to every chapter, funny stuff and I agree with you a lot. (Except when you get all Yaoi fangirly, lol. But it is your house.) Anyway, thought I'd post something finally in response to your question about the special war powers.
In short nobody really knows what they are or even who they all are. There are five of them, that much is known. Two are known, Kenpachi and Ichigo. Many assume Aizen to be one since Juha/Ywach came to visit him personally and invite him into the Quincy army but there has been no statement if this is the case or not. The reason that some Quincy know who the war powers are and some don't is likely a reflection of thier personalities. It's been stated that before the invasion each Quincy received an intelligence package called "the daten" (German for data) that contained all sorts of info on soul society, it's structure, defenses, personnel, thier powers ect. Some Quincy seem to have read and memorized it, some read and forgot it and still others ignored it entirely.
As for what the war powers might be your guess is as good as anyone's. Some people think the list is comprised of individuals who can alter the course of the war, others think it's people Juha wants knocked off so he can absorb their power/knowledge.
As for my thoughts on this chapter: What in the hell is Orihime wearing? And all those quincies charging with volstandig better not result in off paneling my beloved Rukia.
Ah, thanks for clarifying that! I really need to re-read the series because I don't remember the Quincies approaching Aizen at all (!). I literally do not follow the fandom so I never have any idea what people have been talking about. /o\ I looked up the kanji for it - 特記戦力 - and it does read to me like a *special* power (the "war" part doesn't seem as significant in Japanese as it does in the English phrase hmmm. Either interpretation could be right though!
As for Inoue it rather looks like Kubo has decided there hasn't been enough cleavage lately (it's not like she dresses herself after all >_>)! I will be seriously so upset if Rukia is offscreened (or any of them really). KIND OF hoping that Byakuya's Avengers are going to kick the Quincies' asses and show up to back up Ichigo, and then Rukia and Inoue can fight side by side; I've hoped they would ever since they trained together before the HM arc :( {well lbr Inoue would probably provide health support rather than fight as she's been kinda pants at fighting since that creepy spider!Hollow way back when}.
(Oh, and btw I dislike yaoi as a genre; it's tropey, gross and frequently quite homophobic in execution/conception. I ship mainly homosexual pairings because I am gay and since I do not see people like me in media very often, I can at least pretend they're there when I'm bein fannish ^^;)
