My reaction to Ukitake is still "OMG I AM SO GLAD YOU DIDN'T DIE!" Clearly the next arc needs to be set in Soul Society (with bonus Chad and Inoue and Ishida, obviously, and maybe even Keigo, Tatsuki, and Mizuiro :3).
I feel like he must have gone there at least once during the Arrancar arc, but I'm not sure. Anime fillers make it difficult to remember; in those he just waltzes over to SS whenever he feels like it, bless him. :D
That was definitely Rose in the captains' meeting! I am guessing he's taken over for Gin, with Shinji taking over for Aizen and Kensei taking over for Tousen (OH GOD THE KENSEI/HISAGI SHIPPER IN ME CAN'T TAKE IT... AND THEN I CONTEMPLATE THAT KATSUYUKI AND SUGITA HAVE BOTH DONE BL SERIES THOUGH NEVER TOGETHER OH THE VOICE MANIPS ONE COULD DO~ /o\) It's all pretty neatly slotted in now that I think about it -- all three of them essentially got their jobs back -- and that makes me doubly curious about the rest of the Vizards!

The two panels with Ichigo walking past Renji REALLY look like Ichigo is just standing there, waiting for a fist bump from Renji and gets totally ignored! :DDD At least, it does in my head. PWNED!
