I also thought of Bridget Jones and Tiffany Aching (Terry Pratchett's books). And Marianne form Pinhoe Egg by Diana Wynne Jones.

And I started watching B5 yesterday but you probably have Ivanova on your list already. :D

Added, and no worries -- I'm not sure who that is, but if it's a negative-coded character, that's totally cool. My list has, among others, Peyton Flanders from The Hand That Rocks the Cradle on it, not because I aspire to be like her, but because I found her a brilliant fucking character.

This is awesome! I included a few that overlapped into time before 1991, but only if they were included in books/comics/tv shows that were produced into and/or past 1991. I might come up with more later ( ... )

And excellent! You're welcome; I'm glad it helps. It sounds like a really amazing idea. I'll try to think of more if I have time later!

I know this one is totally obvious but I'll say it anyway: Buffy. Every girl, a slayer. cue teary-eyed grimace, I'm such a sap Also: Faith. Also: Anya Jenkins. Also: Illyria. All from Buffy and Angel tv shows, by Joss Whedon.

Ripley clone number 8 from Alien resurrection (1997, if memory serves).

Will think more about this.

Margaret Schroeder from Boardwalk Empire, 2010 - ongoing HBO
Patty Hewes from Damages, 2007 - ongoing FX - DirectTV.

Veronica Mars from Veronica Mars, 2004-2007, UPN-The CW.

Thank you! ♥ I had a bunch of Buffy people on the list already but not Illyria (I've never watched Angel).

Ehehe, I was trying to figure out how to get Ripley on there, thanks. :3
