Not dead, just napping

Behold, my triumphant return to posting! For those wot still care, here is what has been going on in my life:

1) I have been working overtime, every other Saturday since last Octoberish. The money is very, very welcome, but it is very draining. Starting the first week of August for me, and next week for Awesome Co-worker J (K is awesome too, for the record, but he chooses not to work as much OT as me and J) we are going to start working late in addition to working on Saturday. The reason for this is that we have been slammed for longer than I have been working at Storage, and we have at least 2,000, yes 2,000 books that need to be reshelved with more arriving twice a day every day. OT is not about "catching up" it's about, in J's words "falling behind more slowly." Shelving OT is brutal and when I am done, I generally come home and take a nap.

Speaking of home:

2) I moved at the end of June. It was a long time coming, and I started planning for it in January. I'm still in Philly, but more western than before. My new apartment is fantastic, and cheaper than my old one, and my rent includes high speed internet. My old landlords 'lost' the last month's rent I paid to the old-old landlords (building was sold 2-3 years ago). For some strange reason they seem to think that their mistake is my problem and they are trying to get me to pay them $590. I confirmed with the old-old management company that not only did I pay this money, but that it was transfered to the old landlords during the sale, so I know I am in the right in this situation. I am declining this request and possibly lawyering up.

3) I washed my phone. This is not a good idea. But if you are clumsy and flaky like me then I highly recommend getting the insurance on your phone if you haven't already. Phones are expensive if you are not getting a new contract or if you are not qualified for an upgrade. Really expensive. The insurance deductible is not.

4) I am going to San Francisco at the beginning of September. I was not sure that I would be able to afford to travel this year, but I ended up finding a really cheap ticket.

5) My job is moving. We are not sure when. But the area we are in is about to undergo some major redevelopment, and if you look at the artists renderings, the parking lot that we are under has been replaced by a high rise. The other university from whom we rent wants us out ASAP. Rumor has it that our university has a sight that they are in negotiations to obtain, but nobody bothers to tell me J or K all that much, after all we just work there. My old boss would have totally kept us in the loop. I miss her. My new boss (who was actually my first boss ever) is really nice and Canadian, but she is more focused on the program that she runs and less focused on us. She is our "interm" supervisor whatever that means. But she signs our time sheets and doesn't micromanage so it's all good.
