Fandom: Band of Brothers/The Pacific
Title: Aren't we all?
Author: poutmeter
Characters: Merriell "Snafu" Shelton, Eugene Roe, mentions of Eugene Sledge
Genre: Gen, Angst?,
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don't own Band of Brothers, The Pacific, nor do I mean any disrespect to the real men in E company, their families, or the First Marines and their families. This is based on the actors' portrayal of real men in a fictional setting not the actual men of Easy or The First Marines themselves.
Summary: A simple conversation between two men who're broken in different ways.
A/N: Just some random 100-word drabbles that I was planning to expand into full-fledged fics but uh, between sneak filling kink memes/cramming for exams on dead week AND finals I'm kinda mentally too tired to imagine anything atm. These are mostly just pointless interaction, so um, yeah. Ironically however, this first conversation drabble does have a fic on the way--it's just kind of stuck at a standstill.

“I knew a Eugene once,” Snafu says idly, flipping his card over. He doesn't usually play poker with strangers, least of all even bother socializing. But, it's Mardi Gras and fuck it, he's not in the mood to drink by himself.

“He alive?” Roe just shuffles his hand again. They're the only two people inside the dilapidated pool hall and not outside in the screaming throng of the parade.

“Yeah,” Snafu reaches for another card and ignores the shouts behind him, “hell if he ain't feeling like shit though.”

Roe folds sighing: “Don't we all.”

Summary: A meeting between two intellectuals about the subject of war.

"You enlisted to write about the war?" Leckie doesn't know if the man next to him is just dumb or devoted, “how did that go for you?”

Webster just shrugs in response, takes a swig of his beer thoughtful.

“Not very well,” He admits, ignoring the scuttle of the bar around them, “you?”

“I enlisted because of Pearl Harbor,” Leckie's tone isn't condescending intentionally, he takes another shot, “funny how that works, huh?”

“You didn't write anything?” Webster still isn't offended, and instead presses on, “at all?”

“Letters home.” Leckie replies.

Summary: Since we're never getting the goddamn baseball game in the sun, here is a hypothetical one where two dads talk about their metaphorical children.
A/N: If I could somehow inspire people to write more of this awesome--like or just Ack Ack in general, then my life would be complete. Just sayin.

"I don't really believe in yelling for results," Ack Ack explains as they watch the baseball match playing out in the field before them, “no real point to it.”

“Me either,” Winters nods, arms crossed, “the NCOs aren't deaf.”

“Exactly, these men are here for a reason.” Sledge hits a home run, Easy scrambles to catch the ball, “I'm not their mother-that's too much even for me.”

Winters laughs in agreement, Luz throws the ball as Sledge steals first base.

“Just give it time, they'll be your boys in the end.” He advises casually.

Title: Irony

Characters: Lew "Chuckler" Juergens, Warren "Skip" Muck,
Genre: Gen, Angst,
Rating: PG/PG-13

This is based on the actors' portrayal of real men in a fictional setting not the actual men of Easy or The First Marines themselves.
Summary: Based on this quote from Band of Brothers. Chuckler and Muck being penpals and yeah, it all gets kind of shot after a while.

Chuckler writes Muck a lot.

At first.

As a joke he lies about the native girls and the flamingos, he does talk about how fucking hard it is to cut a coconut so he figures it evens out.

But then, it's barely a week later and all he can think is about surviving.

He can't joke about island paradises anymore because as far as he and his friends are concerned, they're in a hot, shitty, hellhole constantly under fire from lunatics.

He's not one to be bitter, but he can't help it.

Muck was the lucky one in his eyes.
