Well, Furfright 2008 has been my first ever official furry convention. In one word, I would describe this convention as "rockin". Why? Because I met a ton of new faces there as well as those whom I know. I went places, I done things, and met awesome people. =^_^=
Thursday, I came to the hotel early and straight off the bat, found some of the attendees there. There, I came across bellic bear, Kiffa Kitmouse, and Riisma. Since not much was going on at the moment, I offered to lend a helping paw to set up the convention. I remember ending up moving a whole ton of stuff into ball room c as well as setting up half the tables in the dealer's den. I worked like a dog and smelled like a typical furry.... yay! :B___
Kiffa + Riisma - I enjoyed traveling with ya to the burger place. And I perhaps shoulda had one with cheese. *shrugs* The food was good, the conversations were hilarious! (Zombie ninja pirates ftw) You two got personality, I give you that. You are verry outgoing individuals with a nice taste of the music of the past. I would like to do his again.
Bellic - For being one of the top dogs (or top bear) in charge of this convention, it was an honor to talk with you, if only for a moment. It doesn't seem like your head was in the clouds. You earned my respect for giving me what little attention you had. I look forward to lending a helping paw once more just to catch a few more moments in person with ya come 2009.
Friday, I attended the opening cerimonies, joined a dance tutorial with Beetlejuice, and hung out near the dealer's den on badge duty. At night, I ate out at the sushi place and ordered a 911. I enjoyed my time with Koda, Sabersage, and Teh Wolf. And after the food, we browsed a local walmart and turned a few heads. Most noteably, the store manager came up to us and asked who exactly are we and why we had tails on. The head turning and the interest from the normal people was priceless. oh! also on the way to the car, teh scared a girl. She flew ten feet, eyes like dishs, and a shriek of bloody murder. What a riot! XD
Saturday, More or less just browsing the hotel. I came across Fusker and his mate Gryph and hung out with him for most of the time. I sat down with them at the hotel restaraunt alongside coyote, but due to the service at the time, it was just back to us three. I ordered a vegitarian burger, which was interesting to say the least. Talk about havin some shroom. I drank about 4 coffies whie we sat there, it helped carry me throught the day. To end it off, I had my dinner with them at a pizza party and met a few of the dealers there. What interesting conversations were brought up while I was there. :3 Come 8pm, I headed off to the gaming rooms and played a game with Spotweld. After that game, I ventured over to the room next to it and offered a lending paw for the grave yard shift. It was 10 pm.
From that moment on, most of my time was at the graveyard shift. I was responsible for making sure all equipment was returned when not in use. The fur in charge when I arrived told me there was not much going on. Odd enough, business picked up the moment I was left behind the desk. I worked my tail off filling out pages of whom borrowed what for which console and if they returned or switched it for another person.
Sunday, I was greeted by another volunteer for the graveyard shift. He was Dr. Stephen, a mad scientist. He offered me a rockstar energy drink and some gatorade, which I happily accepted. We watched eachother's back throught the whole convention. I do not think that without him, I would have survived those 11 and 1/2 hours in that room. Having a shift parter like him made volunteering fun. After most of the traffic to the room died off, I was there with him playing song after song on Rock Band 2. I had took the position of vocalist once and yea... i was a whole buch of crazy right there. Sorry Xander for puncturing your ear drums... poor roo D:
All in all, what a nice convention. Course, it wasn't perfect, but I fail to make note of that here. All I take note of overshadows it by over a bajillion times :D
And as for the smartest thing I have done for this convention, it had to be that I volunteered and lent a helping paw, especially for taking over the graveyard shift. Before I thought about comming to the convention, I hadn't had a plan of what to do there. By volunteering, I was sure that I would be doing something and that I will come across some exciting people. I tell all of you furs out there. If you were down because you couldn't find anyone to hang around with, don't just mope down there, get up off your tail and lend a helping paw. The fact that I got a shirt and free monster admission is just icing on an already delicious cake. (Its no lie, I swear) I met some nice people like, Bellic, Kiffa, Riisma, Dr. Stephen, Spotweld, and soo many more faces. I was not bored at all. All in all, volunteering made this dog REALLY happy. *wags*
I'm looking forward to seeing you guys come 2009. For all staff at the meet, I hope to lend you a helping paw once again. If you guys thought I was an interesting dog, please keep in touch! Also, if you have taken any photos of me, I would certainly appreciate it if I take a look at them.
PS: who has a copy of this years equipment loan out sheet? I think I have an idea on how to make it better.
