another update......
here's another update for everyone who cares.....
made it through midterms... (well.... i don't know if i passed, but i took them).
made it through spring break and some interviews....
visited rocky and josh in san diego.... fun night... filled with whiskey sours and cards.... followed by carne asada fries, which was followed by 4 hours of sleep. and then waking up and playing in a poker tourney at an indian casino.
130+ entrants... played tight..... stole a couple pots when the time was right.... pushed with pocket kings in big blind one hand and quadrupled up. first guy to act raises.... guy to his left re-raises... another guy goes all-in.. couple folders.. guy to my right goes all in... i re-raise all in (2400)..... playing against pocket queens, j-8 and j-4. jack comes... but that's it.... i win the pot... end up with just under 10k (started with 2500). played tight again.... really, i only played pocket pairs and a-X suited, a-k,q,j,10.... and k-q/j suited. unless i was in big blind and got a free flop.... anyway... just grinded away.... hit pocket 6s with 8400. guy to my right goes all in with 3000, i call. get two callers.... flop comes 2-3-4. i got all in. call, fold..... turn/river are clubs.... guy who went all in had k-q clubs... hit runner, runner flush to win the main pot... i win side pot which is 8800....
blinds pretty big now... about 30 players left....
get down to 3000 chips from blinds... 21 players left... a-6 suited.. all in. called by two guys.... one guy with k-j, another with a-5.... flop comes 2-3-4.
turn/river were blanks for me..... i end up in 21st...
top 10 paid... not too bad. rocky finished in the 30s somewhere and my roommate finished somewhere in the 40s.
not bad for my first tourney....
yeah.... also played golf a couple times... semi-relaxing break... not too excited to be back at school and in the swing of things again.
bah.
might be coming home in 3 weekends... trying to figure it out.
