It's been so long since I made a post. Too long. I can't believe how quickly the summer, my last summer, passed by. At least I tried to make the most of it.
I finally went to Israel! It was a great experience and an excellent opportunity. My trip was sponsored through Israel Outdoors so very few people get to see Israel how I saw Israel. The scenery was breathtaking, the Israelis were genuinely polite, the food was OK (we kinda ODed on the tomatoes, cucumbers, and hummus), and most people on the trip were awesome. Favorite city: Tel Aviv. Favorite acitivity: swimming in the Mediterranean (Medical Simulation Center is a close second). Favorite memory: singing Israeli national anthem. I learned a lot about myself on the trip. I can do things that I never imagined myself ever doing. My determination is unwavering. It's OK to get dirty...sometimes.
When I got back from Israel, it was time to write my research article. I'm doing a literature review on the cellular mechanisms and proposed adjunct therapies for sepsis. The goal is to get published sometime in the near future. Admittedly, writing the lit review was more difficult than I thought it would be. Naturally, I bitched and whined the whole way through but I submitted my article to my supervisors/mentors about a week ago. They'll make all the necessary revisions and hopefully, it'll be in a magazine this fall.
Planning for COM2012 Orientation was amazing and I can't believe the new students move in tomorrow. It's funny come to think of it. We planned their activities all summer long and now it's so surreal. I can't believe they move-in tomorrow. Hell, I can't believe that only one year ago, I was a new student being welcomed by upperclassmen. Now, I'm an upperclassmen- a rising MS2. Classes begin on August 18. It's going to be one hell of a trip.
