Summary: Yamada Ryosuke is a normal freshmen in a new school. Together with his popular bestfriend Yuto, they meet the three most popular kids in school, Inoo Kei, Yabu Kota and Takaki Yuya, the leader.
Author’s Notes: @sakachan93 - your status made me happy yesterday! And yes, I should make my chapters longer. *sigh* I think this is a long chapter…well longer than the others. And yes, YabuNoo is here! Haha, I never knew right right time to put this part, but I put it here already to not be too late. This is a chapter full of confessions ne? But not the confession you want the most. :( hahaha!
Chapter 6 . Confessions
“Yam, can you come with me for a while?” Yuto asked Yamada as their class ended, indicating dismissal. The end of Monday.
“Okay sure…?” Yamada fixed his stuff and followed Yuto. Yamada wondered what Yuto wanted to talk about. He wasn’t usually this serious.
The two ended up in the school’s garden as Yuto faced Yamada nervously.
“Yuto, what’s wrong?” Yamada asked, sensing Yuto’s nervousness.
“Ryosuke, I like you… so please go out with me.” Yuto said, with a hopeful look in his eyes. (See what I did there? That’s really how Yuto will confess to a girl à Did her research. AHHAHA.)
“Eh? You’re not kidding are you?” Yamada asked, feeling anxious all of a sudden.
“I’m serious.” Yuto said firmly
“Ahh… ehh…” Yamada wasn’t sure what he should say. He definitely doesn’t think of Yuto in that way. But he doesn’t wanna reject his own bestfriend. He’s not sure of what to do now.
“You don’t have to answer right away…” Yuto said, sensing Yamada’s hesitance.
Yamada saw Yuto’s hurt expression. This made his heart ache a bit too.
“No! Okay, I’ll go out with you.” Yamada gave Yuto a small smile. Maybe he can learn to love Yuto back. Takaki was with Inoo already anyways, that’s what he thought. Yuto’s not hard to like. He was kind, gentle, friendly, funny, good looking, there’s nothing more you can ask for! But he can’t help but wish that it was Takaki that confessed to him instead of his bestfriend.
“Really?” Yuto asked. He wanted to hear Yamada say yes one more time.
“Yeah” Yamada smiled more to show Yuto that he was serious. It was definitely the right choice to say yes. To be able to get over Takaki.
“Thank you Ryosuke!” Yuto hugged Yamada tighter
“Haha…can you go back to calling me Yam-chan now? Ryosuke sounds too serious for me.” Yamada hugged Yuto back.
“Haha sorry Yam. I can’t just call you Yam-chan while confessing can I? That sounds too funny.” Yuto said, still hugging Yamada tightly with a big smile.
“Haha you’re right. Thank you Yuto.”
“For what?” Yuto asked, pulling back, confused. But still, happiness was evident in his face.
“For liking me.” Yamada lightly blushed. He still can’t believe that his own bestfriend liked him. He never would have expected Yuto to like him.
“I’ve liked you a long time already. I just couldn’t find the right time to say it.” Yuto said, hiding his face.
“…” Yamada didn’t know what to say after that. He couldn’t say he liked him back so he just kept quiet.
“… this is getting too embarrassing. Let’s go home now!” Yuto looked back, smiling widely putting his arm around Yamada.
“Hahha. Okay, let’s go.” Yamada smiled. He was happy he made Yuto happy. It was definitely the right choice to say yes.
“Uhhh.. Yam? Can I hold your hand?” Yuto asked, shyly.
“Hm? Oh… okay.” Yamada nodded and blushed, not because he liked Yuto, but because this was just embarrassing for him.
“Hahaha. So do you wanna eat first?” Yuto pointed Yamada’s favorite café, where they sell his favorite Strawberry Shortcake.
“Okay! I want-”
“Strawberry Cake. I guessed that. Don’t worry, it’s my treat.” Yuto said, pulling a happy Yamada inside with him.

Ever since the day at the amusement park, Takaki has been high-spirited all the time. He was glad to know that Yuto and Yamada weren’t together.
Students in the hallway were surprised that Takaki Yuya smiled and greeted them with his charming smile. The girls blushed, and apparently, gained more confidence in confessing to him. He was friendly to everyone, but he wasn’t the type of person who greeted first. They thought it was a good day to confess.
“Takaki-san!” A girl called out to Takaki while he was walking in the hallway.
“Ah, Miyumi-san. What’s up?” Takaki approached the girl. Miyumi was 2nd year, like him. She was from a different class but he’s heard of the girl liking him. She was also the captain of the girls’ volleyball team, and was quite famous too.
The girl was shocked to hear Takaki knowing her name. She blushed at this. I guess he must have heard about me already. She thought highly of herself.
“I know we haven’t talked at all in the past, but I was wondering if we could hang out on Friday after school?”
“Haa? Do you mean in a date?” Takaki asked, laughing.
“Uh yeah…”
“Haha sorry, I’m not really interested.” Takaki rejected her without a second thought. He patted her head and walked away happily, still thinking about Yamada. The girl was in shock. Why was she rejected? She was popular!
“Takaki-san!”
“What?” Takaki faced her, smiling.
“How can you reject me?! I’m the school’s volleyball captain!”
“And then?” Takaki asked, not really happy where this was going to.
“Ughh. You’re rejecting me, while many other guys want me?!”
“Yeah, and please. Just get over it. You’re lucky I’m in a good mood today.” Takaki was getting irritated and left the girl, crying.
Yabu saw Takaki in the hallway, skipping cheerfully, and stopped him.
“Yuya, you okay? You’re so hyper and it’s just morning.” Yabu asked.
“I’m fine! Actually, I’m great! Isn’t that supposed to be a good thing? Why do you make it sound like its wrong?” Takaki said, still hyper.
“No it’s not. It’s just that, this isn’t usually how you act.” Yabu smiled. He already knew about Takaki’s feelings for Yamada. And he too knew about Inoo’s feelings and Inoo knowing Takaki’s feelings. He hasn’t said anything to Yabu yet, but he knew the pale boy was hurting inside.

“Ko-chan, I think I like Yuya.” A 14 year old Inoo told Yabu about his feelings.
“I know.” Yabu smiled.
“Not just friend like, but more…” Inoo looked down to hide his embarrassment.
“I know. Even when we were younger, I knew.” Yabu said, still smiling.
“Eh? I wasn’t sure then!” Inoo said, surprised at what Yabu just told him.
“I can see how you look at him, and how you always wanna be with him. You also sacrifice a lot of time for him, ignoring even your homeworks for him.” Yabu stated facts.
“Hahaha, that’s true… Don’t tell him ko-chan!” Inoo asked Yabu and hugged him. He knew he could always trust Yabu.
“Hai Inoo-chan. You can trust me.” Yabu hugged the boy back.
Yabu had feelings towards Inoo. But not enough to make him selfish and confess, knowing the other boy liked his other bestfriend. He knew Takaki made Inoo happy, and he wasn’t gonna take away that happiness from Inoo.

Yabu, Inoo, and Takaki were walking to the canteen. Takaki and Inoo had their arms around each other skipping while Yabu just laughed at his silly friends. The two were extra hyper today, Takaki because of Yamada, and Inoo because of Takaki’s hyperness and sweetness.
“I heard from Kota five girls confessed to you this morning. I even heard that volleyball captain crying in the hallway! She finally confessed to you?” Inoo said, starting a conversation.
“Haha yeah. Finally she confessed! I thought I would have to tell her off myself. ” Takaki faced Inoo and stopped skipping.
“Hey guys, you go ahead and eat. I forgot that I had to give something to Yano-chan. Jaa~” Yabu said, running off.
“Okay!” Takaki and Inoo said in unison.
“They must have thought it was the best day to confess since you’re so cheerful”
“Well cheerful or not, I’m not interested in them.” Takaki laughed ordering their meals.
“You’re leading them on! You heartbreaker!” Inoo said, smacking Takaki lightly.
“That’s not my fault is it?” Takaki raised his eyebrow, as he rubbed his nose on Inoo’s, giggling to each other.
The two carried their lunch to the table and ate, sharing small stories about their day. Takaki noticed that Yamada and his friends weren’t there in the canteen and sighed.
They got up and were heading back to the classroom arms around each other until *kiss*
Inoo kissed Takaki on his right cheek.
Takaki was shocked and pulled away. They were sweet to each other but this was the first time Inoo kissed him.
“Kei, why did yo-” “Yuya, what would you do if I liked you?” Inoo asked, interrupting and answering Takaki’s unfinished question.
“I’ll pinch your cheeks!” Takaki said, pinching Inoo’s pale cheeks, thinking Inoo was just joking.
“I’m serious.” Inoo said, with a serious face.
“Umm…” Images of Yamada flashed into his mind. Right then, he knew he didn’t like Inoo romantically.
Inoo waited patiently, not wanting to be rejected, though he can already feel it coming. On the other hand, Takaki doesn’t have the guts to reject Inoo. He can reject all the other girls in the world, but not his bestfriend. It’s my fault, I’m being too sweet to him and I lead him on, just like what he said.
“Ano, can you let me think about it first?” Takaki said, not ready on how he’ll reject Inoo.
“Okay… I know you don’t think about me in that way Takaki, but I hope you can give me a chance and try to look at me in another way.” Inoo said, a little bit of relief washed over him, he wasn’t rejected fully.
“Anyways, let’s go to class, or we’ll be late.” Inoo smiled and walked ahead. He looked back and smiled again, to assure Takaki he was okay. “Oi, don’t just stand there! It’s not my fault if you’re late!” Inoo laughed and looked forward again, hiding his hurt expression.
Takaki just looked at his bestfriend’s retreating back. He didn’t know how he’d reject Inoo. He was fragile and he knew nothing would ever be the same again after that.
It was dismissal, and Takaki wanted to talk to Yamada, and possibly confess, but he saw the two walking hand in hand out of school. They’re holding hands? Maybe they already do that before, I just haven’t noticed. Tomorrow then. Takaki shrugged that heavy feeling away. Yamada said they were just bestfriends so he should trust that and not think of other things, right?
