1st To Lie

(A sequel to 1st Inkling)

“Really?” asked Hyukkie with a surprised expression but who couldn’t help smiling.

“Yeah “answered Donghae not wanting to look Hyukkie in the face.

“Ok then, I gotta go do something then” said Hyukkie as he got up and waved at Donghae before leaving.

Donghae watched as Hyukkie left, he couldn’t help but to feel, sad, disappointed, mad and most of all hurt. ; ’Why did I just do that?  I lied to him, I’ve never lied to my Hyukkie before, what am I gonna do?’ thought Donghae as he hung his head. He looked around and it seemed to be especially cold and dark this night, he sighed heavily. ‘I’m sorry Hyukkie, I’m sorry I lied and I’m even sorrier that you believed me’ thought Donghae as he got up to leave. There was no use beating himself up now, he knew tomorrow when he saw Hyukkie he would feel ten times worst, especially if she was with him.

Both boys walked outside into the fresh cold air with their arms around each other, both happy that things were fine again and that they were together. Donghae was just about to ask where they thought they should go when they heard someone.

“Hyukjae” said a girl’s voice.

At first Donghae and Hyukkie both froze, but Donghae couldn’t help but to turn around. As soon as he saw the girl he knew, who she was. His mind started screaming the same question he wanted to ask before but was to afraid to, ‘Are you still in love with her Hyukjae?’ was all he could think as he stared from the boy he loved to the bitch who broke him.

“Soonie” escaped from Hyukkie’s lips as he still faced the street and not the girl who called him. Donghae noticed it was the first time he had heard the dancer say the name out loud as he looked shocked at his friend who was slowly but steadily turning around to face the girl. Donghae had the urge to grab Hyukkie and run, run as fast as they could and never turn around, but he had a greater urge to instinctively wrap his arms around his friend and cradle his head on his shoulders so that he wouldn’t see her. Knowing that neither of those options were possible he just looked on, waiting for any sign or cue to make something up and drag Hyukkie out of there.

Hyukkie’s heart was beating so fast he thought that he might have a heart attack, he tried to clam himself down, he didn’t want to give her the satisfaction that she still affected him after all this time, though it was obvious to anyone. He turned around and saw her there, looking as gorgeous as ever. She had her hair down it shined in the moonlight around her shoulders, her big eyes also gave a sparkle, and her long legs would make any guy howl in the short skirt she was wearing. She was beautiful indeed no one would argue  that but there was something about her that put you off as well. As Hyukjae drank her in she spoke again.

“I’m glad you haven’t forgotten about me Hyuk” she said smiling.

“I don’t think that would be possible, you are a lying cheating whore” Hyukjae wished he would say that but instead he said, “How could I forget”. To that Soonie smiled brightly at him, Hyukkie couldn’t help but feel a pang in his heart at seeing her smiling at him like that. But Hyukjae was no fool, he wasn’t going to be won over by a smile and he quickly recovered himself. “What are you doing here?” he asked. Soonie was taken aback at the sudden hard expression of her ex-boyfriend’s face, she smiled at him again only this time more understandingly.

“Sorry, I know this is really out of the blue, it’s just that I saw you the other day, and it made me realize how long it’s been, I just wanted to see how you were.” She finished by looking at her feet. Hyukjae could only stare at her, he wasn’t sure what to do, if he could trust that she had no ulterior motive.

“I’m good” he said feeling the awkwardness surround them.

“I'm glad, really I am Hyuk” she said looking over at Donghae. Donghae couldn’t help but glare at the girl, he wanted so much to walk over there and punch her in the face. Noticing that Soonie was looking at Donghae Hyukkie quickly spoke up.

“Oh this is Donghae, he’s a good friend of mine” said Hyukkie as he wrapped an arm around him. Donghae couldn’t help but give a smug smile at the bitch.

“Oh is he new I don’t remember him from before?” she asked with fake interest

“Yea he’s only been here a while but he’s one of the best singers and only second when it comes to dancing, we're set to debut in the same group,” said Hyukkie as he shook Donghae in his grip. Donghae couldn’t help but worry that Hyukkie was getting more comfortable around her, he was even smiling now.

“Oh well if Hyuk says your good then you must be, nice to meet you Donghae, I’m Soonie” she said extending her hand. Donghae just looked at her, feeling the weight of Hyukkie’s arm around him gave him more strength to glare at her, to hate her, to make her wish she’d never come here today. He glared at her not even attempting to pretend like he wanted to be friends, Hyukkie swiftly nudged him and he sighed and nodded in her direction.

“Judging by your expression you must know about me and Hyuk” she said looking down at her feet. Donghae hated how she tried acting coy and embarrassed and he especially hated how she kept on calling him Hyuk, ‘It’s Hyukkie bitch, Donghae’s Hyukkie,’ he thought, as he continued to glare, she seemed to get the hint.

“I’m sorry I must be keeping you two from something” she said and when no one said anything she continued, “I’m sorry I shouldn’t have…I just…I should go”.

“It was good seeing you again Hyuk, and nice meeting you too Donghae,” she said as she quickly started walking away from the two boys. Donghae was just about to jump up in joy in his mind when he saw that she stopped and was walking back toward them again.

“Umm Hyuk I know that you're probably really busy but I wondered if you wanted to talk” she asked.

‘She’s definitely up to something’ thought Donghae. Donghae looked away from Hyukkie, he didn’t want to look at him he was sure that he was going to accept her offer and go talk to her.

“I actually promised Donghae we’d go and get a bite to eat together,” said Hyukkie. Donghae let a not so silent ha slip his mouth and had to fight the urge to stick out his tongue at her.  Soonie glared at him, she obviously didn’t expect this and didn’t think that Hyukkie wouldn’t automatically go with her, she for the first time gave Donghae a thorough look over before glaring at him.

“Oh yea, I knew you’d be busy, can I call you then Hyuk, I’d like to talk” she said adjusting her hair.

Hyukkie just nodded silently, memorized by her beauty.

“Ok then I’ll call you later Hyuk, bye-bye” she said and both Donghae and Hyukkie watched her go.

Donghae sighed heavily as he sat in the practice room alone. He thought for sure if he waited in the dance room he would be able to see Hyukkie but he had no such luck. In fact Donghae hadn’t had a chance to talk to Hyukkie alone since the night they ran into Soonie. He worried, his friend hadn’t been around lately, he’d always come right before practice started and leave right away after practice was over. Donghae hoped that Soonie hadn’t slithered her way back into Hyukkie’s life, he couldn’t be sure though, even after Soonie left them the other night and they went to dinner they didn’t talk about her, so Donghae didn’t know what was going through Hyukkie’s head in regards to his ex.

After waiting another half hour Donghae decided to give up on Hyukkie coming in to practice and left the room. He couldn’t help but wonder what was going on with Hyukkie and since Hyukkie himself wasn’t there he thought he’d try the next best thing, who probably knew what was going on in his cute crush’s head, Junsu.

So Donghae went looking for Hyukkie’s very best friend who probably knew Hyukkie better than he knew himself. He asked some of the guys around and they all said that he had just missed him, that he had just left to go get something to eat at one of the shops on the same block. Donghae thanked them and left hoping maybe he could catch Junsu and hoping he was alone.  Donghae thankfully found him rather quickly, he was headed toward a regular shop that a lot of the trainees went to but he saw that he wasn’t alone, Soonie was walking right behind him. Thinking that it were better to hear but not be seen Donghae followed them. He was a little surprised when they didn’t enter the shop but instead headed for the ally that was in between them, he hid in front of the building as he tried to listen to what was being said.

“What the hell are you doing Soonie?” asked Junsu, Donghae who was little surprised by Junsu’s tone, the boy was know for having a angelic voice but nothing about it now would make you think it was sweet.

“It’s great seeing you too Junsu, it really has been too long,” answered the girl with a chuckle, she didn’t seem phased by the boy’s voice.

“Cut the crap. What the hell are you doing?” he asked again, Donghae could tell he was using all his might not to yell.

“You haven’t changed Junsu, you never were very nice”

“That’s because I always saw you for what you were” he spit back out at her.

“Really and what am I Junsu?”asked Soonie with a smugness in her voice.

“You are an evil, manipulative, ugly, lying bitch” said Junsu without hesitating.

“Tsk tsk tsk, I don’t think Hyukkie would be very happy to hear you talk about me like that Junsu.”

“Bitch” thought Donghae and said Junsu. “Don’t talk about Hyukkie to me, I’ve never hit a women but they say theirs a first time for everything.” he said in a trembling voice, Donghae knew he was losing control now.

“I’m so scared,” started Soonie, “You should really control your temper, you’re starting to shake, and you better get used to seeing me around cuz I’m here to stay” she finished. There was silence, Donghae wished he could see what was going on but he knew he would get caught if he did. Donghae wished more that he could run over there and beat the crap out of her.

Then the silence was broken, at first Donghae didn’t recognize the sound he was hearing but then he did, Junsu was laughing, he thought maybe Junsu had gone crazy.

“That’s a good one Soonie” he finally said.

“You shouldn’t underestimate me” she said in an angry tone.

“And you shouldn’t underestimate me,” said Junsu, Donghae could hear the death glare Junsu was giving Soonie and was glad he couldn’t see now. “Last time I stood back and did nothing and I’ve regretted it ever since but I swear, you do anything to him and I won’t hold back, I’ll make your life hell, and I promise you that.” he said with such determination that it made all the hairs on Donghae’s neck stand up.

“Of course, Junsu comes in to save the day, you won’t always be there Junsu, you can’t always protect him, no matter if you do care for him”

“Weren’t you listening, I told you not to underestimate me or how much I love Hyukjae, because I love him, more than I even love myself, which is more than can be said about you, bitch, just back the fuck off.” He said as his voice was trembling again. Donghae heard foots steps in the distance and guessed that Junsu must have left back out the alley.

That’s when Donghae made his presence known, he stepped into the alley and saw a fearful Soonie, Donghae smiled at that. At least she wasn’t stupid enough not to take Junsu seriously, even Donghae himself was scared and made a mental note to never hurt Hyukkie because he wouldn’t want Junsu mad at him, he was a guy and he didn’t think Junsu would hold back with him. Soonie finally saw Donghae and quickly shook off her scared face and replaced it with her smug face right away.

“Donghae, right?” she asked with a fake smile and tone. When Donghae didn’t answer she continued, “I hope you didn’t hear all that unpleasantness just now, Junsu’s never really liked me and he’s always been weirdly protective of Hyuk, he just cares I guess,” she finished with a fake giggle.

“No, “ said Donghae

“Excuse me… so you can speak” she said still pretending to be sweet.

“He doesn’t just care, he loves Hyukkie, weren’t you listening to him before, if I were you I would be careful.” Said Donghae, it was his turn now to give her a fake smile.  Soonie’s face turned again, she knew it was no use pretending anymore, he had obviously overheard the conversation she just had and therefore also heard all the things she said to Junsu in return.

“So you were listening, you know it’s not very nice to ease drop” she said coldly.

“Well you’re not very nice either so I guess it evens things out”

“You don’t even know me” she said more like she was defending herself than stating a fact.

“So” said Donghae

“So, you weren’t even around when I was with Hyuk, you don’t know the whole story, how can you judge me?” she asked annoyed to Donghae’s whatever attitude.

“I don’t need to know all the facts, I was with Hyukkie that day on the street, I saw the look on his face when he saw you, I know you hurt him, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know that you’re a bitch.” He said getting angry remembering Hyukkie’s beautiful face in pain. ‘My Hyukkie’s beautiful face, I won’t forgive her’ he thought.

“You know I’m getting tired of everyone calling me a bitch” she said more to herself than to Donghae.

“Then why don’t you stop being one and leave my Hyukkie alone” he said.

“My Hyukkie is it?” she said, “I knew it, ever since the other day I knew, the way you were looking at me,” she chuckled at him, “Too bad he’s not gay, I’m proof of that.” Donghae wanted to kick himself, how could he let that slip out, but at least she knew now and he wasn’t going to deny it.

“Yea well your ugly enough to turn anyone, maybe I should thank you” he said and laughed as he watched her angry expression.

“I wonder if Hyuk knows, “ she said and Donghae quickly stopped laughing, “So he doesn’t know does he, knowing how sweet and naïve he is he’ll probably never figure it out on his own, maybe he needs someone to help point it out to him” she said with a rotten smile as she saw Donghae’s worried reaction. Donghae stared down Soonie for a few moments before replying.

“Go ahead and tell him, I was going to confess to him anyways” he said bluffing.

“Really, if I call him right now and tell him his new best friend wants him in more than a friendly way,” she said taking out her phone and teasing him, when his expression didn’t change she continued. “Oh wait this isn’t Hyuk’s number,” she said scrolling down numbers on her list, “It’s the number to the SM offices, I wonder what they’d say if they heard”

“Bitch” was all Donghae could get out.

“Now here’s what I want to ask you, is risking your dream, your parent’s dream, Hyuk’s dream and your friendship with Hyuk all worth it.” She asked and when Donghae just glared at her she kept going, “Because you know he’s not gay, what will happen then, will your friendship survive that? And I don’t know how well you know Hyuk yet but if you knew him even just a little you’d know that besides being an entertainer his dream is to be a great dad. And the last time I checked two men can’t make a baby. And what about his friend’s, all the people he cherishes, do you think they’ll all stick by him and his family how disappointed they’ll be. And then when you debut, all the lies you’ll have to tell, all the sneaking around, worrying if someone were to ever find out, that’ll just break Hyuk, you see he’s really rather a fragile person I don’t know if he’ll be able to take it, it might even kill him”

“Stop!” said Donghae, he couldn’t help but picture everything that Soonie said, and she was right, if he were to ever get with Hyukkie it would kill his career, friendships, family ties, dreams, and eventually it would eat at him until he died of loneliness and heartache.

“That’s only to say if he loved you back, which he doesn’t, so don’t get so up tight” she said laughing, “Now here's what were gonna do, if and when Hyuk mentions me your going to sing my praises, tell him that you think that we should try to work things out, that people can change, blah, blah, blah, and I won’t tell him or the company about your dirty little secret.” She said as she walked away from him. When she was almost out of view she turned around and said, “It was nice talking to you Donghae, I hope we can become close friends soon” she said and waved at him. To which Donghae only responded with a “Fuck You!”

He screamed at her, but she didn’t show any signs of acknowledging that he said anything. Finally Donghae just broke down and started crying, he cried and cried in the alley, he felt so useless and stupid, he fell right into Soonie’s trap, he couldn’t even help Hyukkie, he was going to have to stand aside and help Soonie get Hyukkie back, his Hyukkie.

Donghae sat there wanting for Hyukkie to arrive, he was really surprised when Hyukkie called him and asked to meet him at the park near the offices. It was only yesterday that he had met Soonie in an alley and was black mailed into helping her. ‘Knowing that bitch she probably pushed Hyukkie to come talk to me and see what I thought about them getting back together, she knows I’d only  say things in her favor’ he thought as he saw Hyukkie around the corner. He saw him and quickly jumped up and waved and him, as he saw his Hyukkie’s face he forgot all about the unpleasantness that was Soonie and was just happy to see Hyukkie.

“Hi Hae,” said Hyukkie. ‘He called me Hae, I love it when he calls me Hae’ thought Donghae. “Sorry did I keep you waiting?”

“No, I’m just glad to see you, it feels like I haven’t seen you in a really long time”

“Yea, that’s why I wanted to talk to you” said Hyukkie. “I know we haven’t really talked since the other day when Soonie showed up and I wanted to talk to you about it” Donghae was quickly brought back to reality after he heard that bitches name, great he was going to have to listen to Hyukkie talk about her and he wouldn’t be able to tell him anything.

“So are you two getting back together or something?” asked Donghae not wanting to know the answer.

“Yea maybe” said Hyukkie, Donghae couldn’t help but to look at his friend, he saw that Hyukkie was really torn on the subject , he wanted so much to tell him to forget her that she didn’t deserve him and that she was evil but he loved him too much to put Hyukkie's life in danger. “You know after we left that night she called me, and we’ve been talking and seeing each other ever since,  but I’m not sure what to think”

Donghae just nodded, it saddened him to know that he was out with her the whole time while he was looking for him.

“I mean I know she hurt me in the past but the past is the past right? I mean she said she was sorry and she didn’t realize until we broke up what she was doing was wrong and that she really missed me.” “But then again I don’t know if I can believe her, I mean she’s a chronic liar, so I don’t know,” Donghae just sat there and nodded furiously with what he was saying.  “But then again people change and she may not be lying and I’m not giving her the benefit of the doubt. What do you think Donghae?”

“Me” said Donghae not wanting to answer, then he had a brilliant idea, “Have you talked to Junsu, what did he say?” he knew that Junsu would be able to tell Hyukkie the truth and tell him what a bitch she really was.

“Junsu, oh he’s away this whole weekend, its his grandfather’s birthday so he’s out in the country celebrating with his family, he won’t be back for a couple of days,” said Hyukkie, and Donghae lost all hope.

“Oh, well what does your heart tell you?” said Donghae hoping that his heart had bitch-radar.

“Umm… it’s telling me that no ones perfect and that I shouldn’t be so quick to write people off. That maybe I should give her another shot,” said Hyukkie, Donghae couldn’t help but to nod in agreement, while his heart ached.

“What do you think Hae?”he asked his friend sincerely.

“I think if you feel you should give her a chance than you should” he said the words tasting bitter in his mouth.

“She told me that she ran into her the other day and that you talked for a bit, what do you think, do you think she’s changed?” he asked. Donghae wanted so much to tell Hyukkie the truth but he couldn’t risk it and did what Soonie told him to do.

“I think she’s really something, a total bitch, I think you should not give her another chance, she’ll only make you miserable, you shouldn’t be with someone like her, you should be with me.”

“Really?” asked Hyukkie with a surprised expression but who couldn’t help smiling.

“Yea “answered Donghae not wanting to look Hyukkie in the face.

There was no use about beating himself up now, he knew tomorrow when he saw Hyukkie he would feel ten times worst especially if she was with him.

Donghae arrived right before practice started not wanting to get there to early to see or hear about Soonie and Hyukkie getting back together. Donghae was just about to go inside the office building when he heard someone say, “Why such a long face Hae?”  Donghae turned around and saw that it was Hyukkie, his Hyukkie and he was alone.

“Cutting it kind of close aren’t you, I’ve been waiting for you to get here,” said Hyukkie looking at his watch. “I wanted to talk to you” he said and Donghae’s quickly lit up. “About me and Soonie” he continued, Donghae’s face dropped, it must have been very noticeable because Hyukjae gave a chuckle.

‘He’s probably giggling with happiness, he’s with her now and there’s nothing I can do’ thought Donghae.

“There’s that face again, it’s the same one you had yesterday when we talked too, you don’t like Soonie do you Hae?” he asked, Donghae wanted to scream out ‘Of course not, I hate the bitch!’ but instead he just said, “That doesn’t matter, as long as you're happy” he said looking down at his feet.

“Wrong,” said Hyukkie, Donghae couldn’t help but to look up at him, “It does matter, it matters a lot to me” he said and Donghae couldn’t help but to be moved, he hugged Hyukkie who hugged him back with the same amount of strength. “You know I didn’t get together with her, I told her I couldn’t.” he said and they broke up their hug and Donghae looked at him in disbelief.

“You didn’t, why?” asked Donghae.

“Lots of different reasons really, the timing is really bad, I mean were going to be debuting soon, I won’t have time for a girlfriend, I still don’t trust her, if I got one thing out of my relationship with her was to be cautious about who claims to likes you and for what reasons. And she’s a total bitch, I ran into Junsu the other day and he was really angry and I knew he had talked to her and that she upset him, and I can’t be with anyone who upsets him that much or you. And most of all I couldn’t go through with it because of you.” He said patting Donghae on top of the head.

“Me?” asked Donghae

“Yea, as I  went to go meet with her I just kept picturing the face you made when I asked you what you thought, and how little I saw of you when she was around and I couldn’t go through with it” he said with a soft smile on his lips. Donghae could have died at that point, he was so overjoyed , but something still didn’t make any sense to him.

“If you already knew you weren’t going to get with her why did you ask me what I thought?” asked Donghae in a tone that couldn’t hide the smile in his voice.

“Oh because I really wanted to see what you would say and Junsu told me to.”

“Junsu?” asked Donghae

“Yea, before he left he told me to ask you what you thought and to pay close attention to your reaction and then go meet Soonie afterwards, it was weird at the time but I just did what he asked, he was still really annoyed  from talking to her and a little scary.”

“So you’re really not going to get with her and you won’t regret it?” asked Donghae

“Umm” nodded Hyukkie.

“Then can I just say that she is a hateful, stupid bitch, and if I ever see her on the street I won’t hesitate to…” he said looking at Hyukkie. Hyukkie couldn’t help but laugh at his friend, and Donghae couldn’t help but laugh along with his Hyukkie.

“Common let’s get inside before they scold us for being late,” said Hyukkie. Donghae nodded in agreement as he let out a sigh of relief. He didn’t know if Soonie would blame him for Hyukkie not getting with her or if she would tell the company or Hyukkie that he was in love with him but he didn’t care, Hyukkie was free from her grasp and she probably wouldn’t be bothering them again. He knew that he still had a long way to go with Hyukkie, and that he first had to get Hyukkie to open himself up and trust again before he could ever think of confessing to him but Donghae was hopefully. And so Donghae followed Hyukkie inside smiling, finally hoping things would start to get normal again, and he was just happy to be with his Hyukkie.

A/N; So I know this one is kind of long, sorry for that. And yes Junsu is seriously trying hard to get Hyukkie to notice that he has feelings for Donghae and that Donghae has feelings for him already. And no I am not going to write anymore stories with Soonie in them, I don’t like her and I definitely don’t like having to write about her. So don’t think that I might bring her back because I most definitely won’t, promise.  I hope you all noticed that in the beginning when they met Soonie outside SM that Hyukkie only started relaxing after he remembered Donghae was there and only started smiling after he had an arm around Donghae, hehehe, just wanted to point that out.  Thank You for reading.
