Pa got me
this bellydance DVD for Christmas. The first time I tried it using my orthotics in my slippers and ended up with my left hip hurting so much that I had trouble walking for 10 days, and had to avoid swimming as well. So, I thought I'd try it one more time, with sneakers with my orthotics in them. That time was earlier today.
So far, no abnormal hip pain. I managed 15 minutes before I got really tired and had to stop. But I actually had fun, too, which isn't something I can say for Tai Chi or swimming. (I enjoy Tai Chi and find it relaxing and centering, but not fun. ;p) So when my Newsweek check shows up (I'm still waiting to be paid for my My Turn article...), I think I might check out some of the other bellydance DVDs on amazon.com that got better reviews and maybe buy some Lebanese music so I can just dance and have fun on my own. (Plus, I'd love to have more Lebanese music... There are some contemporary artists I really like.)
I think my new goal should be to do half an hour of Tai Chi daily followed by either swimming or bellydance, since both require more energy than Tai Chi.
(Also, I need a bellydance icon.)
