(That's "Weekend in Review", for those of you who didn't know.)
Saturday morning I had to wake up early (for me) at 8:30 so that my ride could pick me up at 9:05 for our Worship and Ministry committee meeting. I'm really, really enjoying being on this committee. It's a very vibrant, inspirational group of people and I look forward to committee meetings almost as much as I look forward to Meeting for Worship. We're currently working on coming up with a recommended readings list, which is a lot of fun, partially because it makes it easy for me to decide which Quakerly books I want to read next.
About an hour after I got home,
wigginx came over. We watched a lot of The Critic TV series on DVD and then got Chinese food for dinner. After dinner, the three of us watched "Idiocracy". The movie premise is rather scary: that 500 years from now, the world will be overrun with stupid people because they're the ones breeding like mad. But some of the things in the movie bothered me. Not only were the people stupid, they were also mean and homophobic. I just don't think that how kind someone is, or how judgmental, has anything to do with IQ level. But, as far as movies go, it was entertaining enough.
A while later,
wigginx reminded me that I wanted to talk about Tai Chi with him to see if he could figure out why my knees hurt so much afterwards. Apparently the people in the Tai Chi video I use don't move their feet enough, which puts undue stress on the knees. And since I was mimicking them, I was stressing my knees more than I needed to. Probably later today I'm going to try doing some Tai Chi with the adjustments he suggested and see how it feels.
Sunday, I had to wake up early again (8:30) so that my ride could pick me up at 9:05 for Meeting for Worship, which was then followed by Meeting for Business. It was a very centered, moving, vibrant Meeting for Worship. 7 people spoke, which is easily the record for Meetings I've attended. I was minister #2. Though the frequency of messages near the end of the Meeting made the Meeting feel a little... busy, it was a wonderful Meeting and I hope I attend more like it.
When I got home,
wigginx was still there. (I wasn't at all surprised or disappointed. He usually ends up staying until Sunday evening-ish.) We watched more of The Critic and then the 3 of us went to family dinner. Shortly after family dinner,
wigginx went home.
